Re: The old M3
Absolutely agreed about the original M3. I passed one on the M4 a few weeks ago, immaculate and original, really nice to see.
I think the current generation M3 is a big improvement on the old one, styling wise. I had a white one behind me and have to say, it looked fantastic in the mirrors, really made me think of the WTC cars. And in white it looked quite subtle, which is always nice. I'm not saying that everyone that owns the pictured M3 in my first post, is a drug dealer or otherwise unsavoury character - I've already balanced my message by saying it's a capable machine, something that most true petrol heads would be quite pleased to drive - but in my neck of the woods, it's the vulgar flash gits that tend to own them, and I've yet to meet a nice one

Re: The old M3
briefly back to original question of - drug dealers car or not' - i knew an ex drug-dealer a few years ago , he said he like Alfa Romeos, specifically the Alfa 159.
back to the topic (as i think it is now - M3 rivals?) anyone seen the new jag XF.. tuned version of course.. ![]() my neighbours got a normal XF, it looked like a mondeo for the first 3 weeks, then one day he parked it so i could see the badge and i said, huh its a jag, well i'll be damned.. anyway, theres an XF-R coming out next year, don't know what it looks like yet - but expect between 550 to 600bhp.. |

Re: The old M3
i do like the M3 the op posted...although around my area it is quite common with young males - not sure if they dealers, i think more of the case of rich parents, or working for daddy's business.

Re: The old M3
I prefer the E36 M3 evo... same engine as the E46, lighter and no ESP... wheres your god now biayyaach!!
![]() I think the problem with the E46 is that its reputation has been "tainted" by it being the vehicle of choice for yuppies who want a flash car that goes fast. it was and still is an incredibly capable car when driven properly |

Re: The old M3
Of course it doesnt but most people wouldnt be able to tell the difference from a glance I am sure.
The fact is alot of people invent the BMW stigma, through maybe jealousy, want to make themselves feel better.. or whatever it may be. As you say most people who dont know about cars would see a csl and see it as the same as the above car. So what makes you think you get away from that image by buying the csl? You cant really. But I admit I would have no problem owning either car, as I think they are a great package as I have already said. |
