But back on topic you need to take comfort that it happened in your first year so you don't have any NCB to lose yet, it will go up at renewal you just need to shop around a lot more. Accidents happen and you'll learn from it plus there's much worse accidents to have in cars to learn these lessons.

Re: First accident. How hammered will I get for it do you think?
It may not go up as much as you think. I had an accident in July ( two months before renewal ) the handbrake failed on my Car ( maybe I didn't engage it properly, don't know, had it checked after and it was fine ) and it rolled down the road scraping the side of a crappy old M reg Metro ( thank goodness there was no one about ) not a mark on my Car lol. Went through the Insurers ( still ongoing ) I like you am in my first year of driving, so no no clams to lose, got my renewal through from Prudential and they wanted £320 TPFT this time, that was compared to £220 last year, was happy with that but just out of interest I shopped about and managed to find fully comp insurance with the AA for £249, that's with having no no claims and admitting liability ( made sure I rang them as well to confirm details ) so as from 8th September I shall be with the AA lol. Lots of luck in getting it sorted

I would have sued her ass in the small claims court. I'm lucky I suppose, I've only ever had one fault accident which was when I ran my Mk1 MR2 into the back of a VW Passat (I think it was, might have been a Golf estate) at 2mph when I wasn't paying enough attention. Fortunately for me the back end of a Passat is a lot harder than the front end of an MR2 and there was no obvious damage to the Passat after I'd rubbed my paint off her bumper with my finger. Still gave my name and details and would have happily paid up had there been damage though (was 21 at the time, and paying ~£500 a year for TPFT insurance). |

back to the original poster, i suggest you explain the damage to a local body shop and then get her to take the car there for a quote as she is taking the pee

To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
