Alloy Wheel Repair - Colour Matching Hi, this maybe a long shot but the reach of the internet is vast. I recently had my Audi A4 18" 5 spoke alloys refurbished and very nice they looked until I nicked a curb and then it has been bothering me ever since. Being a handy person and comfortable with filler & a spray can I thought I would give it a go, my only issue would be in matching the colour, I did not intend spraying the whole wheel. Anyway I have made an excllent job of preparing, filling & priming - you cannot tell it was damaged, the problem is the "silver" I bought (Simoniz 5 wheel silver acrylic paint) is just too dark, the original refurb colour is really light silver compared to the Simoniz colour. Does anyone know what colour or make/type of paint maybe used by a professional refurb company, I am not trying to emulate what they can achieve but simply to blend in a minor repair. thanks, Mark.

Re: Alloy Wheel Repair - Colour Matching I am not sure, when I did quiz the guy (wheel restorer) about the colour he mentioned "water based" if that means anything, I got the feeling he was reluctant to tell me all of his secrets. cheers.

Re: Alloy Wheel Repair - Colour Matching Why not pop back and ask? Since you've had them done there recently I bet they'd tell you or possibly tidy the wheel up if you've done the hard prep work? If you don't ask and all that...

Re: Alloy Wheel Repair - Colour Matching All wheels are powder coated coming from factory.Mobile wheel repair guys use urethane or water bourne and a majority of shops will sand blast and repowder coat if equipped. As for the paint code and brand its a closely gaurded secret.
