    GM u-turns over Europe!

They've decided not to sell the European bit to Magna now - apparently the economy's doing better now so they want to keep it...

That's not entirely fair. I can think of at least one thing they've decided and stuck with - that they're irrational and inconsistent. They've stuck to that like superglue.

    Re: GM u-turns over Europe!

Was it not just a ploy both delaying the decision until the US stimulus package had kicked in some benefits/stability for the US arm, and secondly to get the German Govmt to stump up some cash to keep the European arm afloat on the promise that Magna would get it and keep the German factories intact.

After all Fiat pulled out because GM were insisting on a sizeable cash injection to keep Vaux/Opel afloat but without commiting to the contract/deal.
