Cheap tyres.....

just in case anyone gets offered some reasonably cheap tyres....

I have 2 new bargain Klebo's on the front of my Rally car (for road use....saves me getting tugged) and they're not bad at all

180/60 HR14's and they have good solid tyre walls, and it goes round corners pretty well for a competition car on road tyres.

Never know.....you might need some tyres soon....Kleber are OK

If you're ever in Gloucester check out Malvern Tyres, like most garages they'll get anything you like in and I've never had to ask them to beat a price, they're always the cheapest (internet excluded as they fit and balance)!

just steer clear of Nankang - theyre absoloutly rubbish - rock hard and grip free.

Got a set on me focus - ive been waiting 2 years for the sods to wear down and they just wont bleedin wear down. I think theyre made out of lead wich explains the total lack of grip.

I think ill just have to bite the bullet and invest in 4 nice new good make tyres.

Don't have a tame fitter, but might be able to coax one into doing it. Have checked out mytyres and prices DO look good, I must admit.

As for car, BMW M3.

You might find cheaper, Saracen, but I swear by etyres - I've used them for years, very very good service, nothing bad to say about them

This is exactly why they're fun.

Get a set of Yokohama's on the front end and a setof Nankangs on the rear and have some tail out fun.

Perfect drifting tyres since they're so hard and cheap

I'd buy Nankang for drifting (and get them fitted the wrong way round etc )
but I like my car out of ditches so I'll stick with Pilots / F1's for the moment.

Pass... My 195/45/15s were 22 quid a corner for Nankang NS1's, so I'd imagine a similar price, though I did get them at an owners club price. Shouldn't be much more though.

Be warned though, the Nankang/Yoko combination is serious fun but you MUST be aware that the car will be a nightmare in the wet, and bloody difficult in the dry if you're not careful. Hexus nor myself are not taking responsibility for this one should you prang it

Damn, that is cheap. I've just been having a look at etyres, and they only want £39 each for A539s, so I don't know what to do. I'm certainly not good at controlling slides, as two spins in my first year of ownership will attest. I haven't really pushed it since then, although quite by accident I managed a near perfect slide on a banked but slippery mini roundabout.

Anyway, I want to learn a bit of tailsliding, and I'm thinking that this will be easier (and safer, because the car will be going slower when it slides) if I have el-cheapo tyres rather than the (in my experience) excellent A539s. Thoughts?

Skii, how do etyres work? I work Mon-Fri and commute by train. Will they just show up to my house and fit the tyres unattended? Or do they work on Saturdays too? Does the price shown include balancing, and everything (I.E. is the £39 the total price I'd pay per tyre fitted)?

Euk i had them on the rears before - a bog standard focus instantly turns into a crazy sideways banzai bmw m3 csl with no traction control.

No seriously, theyre so ungrippy, theyre dangerous. Break away very early at the back, and as ive got a tight wide, safe roundabout about every 500 metres all the way to work, its not conductive to getting to work on time, just too much fun flicking in, flicking out, catching the slide again and again, one day im gonna do it and get it wrong

So for now their safe on the front, where they just slowly and gradually wash out with plenty of warning, even a 1.2 corsa could take me on any roundabout with those things on the front
