FAO Zakky - new car question

Well the missus has changed her mind again - on the hunt for a VW Lupo now...

    BUT

how can 1 dealership offer me a GRAND less than the other for the same Car !?!

Lupo Sport 1.4S Metallic Black + CD Player, book price £10,850

    VW Hayes - £10,850
    VW Croydon - £9,800 !!

Now I know you fellas in the showrooms have to work to some pretty tight margins thanks to the likes of TradeSales and Jam-Jar, but whats going on here - is this one dealer taking the pi$$ or another giving the car away !?!

Indeed - you'd be doing well to knock £1,050 off the list price if you haggled with them so go to the Croydon garage and see how much they'll knock off the £9,800!

wel mate....dont forget the manufacturer now has no control on what a dealer sells summit for....that would be illegal (so GO SEE A BMW DEALER FOR A REAL SCAM...they are controlled by HQ)

So...the dealer in question has a car....he has a target...and he knows you want it....and if the target is worth hitting (bet it QUARTER 2, last 2 weeks of Apr/May/June) he might be a just a few deals away from BONUS

Gotta ask tho...not that it matters...but is it a carp colour, or a used demo or something?

Wasn't suggesting otherwise Zak... Just that (like BMW) VW are a bit pricey IMO... Though I suppose the Lupo isn't exactly their top model (though I quite like them myself - specially the GTi)

Zak - Out of interest (and off topic).... And if you don't feel you can answer this I understand - but on that kind of car what sort of margin would we be talking about (not taking into account costs - I just mean the difference between what the dealer buys it in for and what the sticker price is)
