I can't see how the hell hes done it, the works Pug 106 Maxi only chucks out 210BHP (only, DUH!!!) and thats at 9200RPM...i'm suprised Peugeot ain't give him a job building their rallycars or something if he can 200BHP out of his in his garden shed...

Without Turbo supercharger or NOS, that leaves carbs or throttle bodies....

Assuming he's not hoofing bs around....

    He's claiming 200bhp per tonne on a 900kg car so we're talking 180bhp tops.
About the only 1.6 I can think of that gets moderately close is the old Honda Civic CRX 1.6i-16v VTEC which pushed out a solid 150bhp in standard trim. Technology should have moved on but I reckon he's more likely to get 180 at the crank and closer to 160 at the wheel. An engine builder will need to confirm if that's possible.

About the 106 MAXI. It may only show 210bhp but are you sure there are no air restrictors on that motor? Most classes of motor-sport, especially rallying, have air-restrictor rules to try and keep each class competitive. In GT racing unrestricted motors could easily put 100-200+ hp more.

Oh yeah one last note on engine size vs bhp. When the FIA performed one of its many changes to the engines rules in GT racing in the mid-seventies Porsche took up the challenge to beat them at their own game. The rules said 4.0ltrs or 1.5ltr Turbo (simplified for our purposes here). Porsche as you can imagine went the way of the turbo and produced the 935 Moby-Dick (whale tail doncha know) armed with a full 450bhp motor. It won unsurprisingly and that was almost 30 years ago!
Now if only I could fit that under the bonnet of my motor........
