| Have a look at http://www.carolenash.com/ I use them for my bike insurance, and they have given me excellent service over the years. Not sure how competitive they will be for a car quote, but definitely worth giving them a ring. |

| If youre thinking of something like a Puma or Fiesta then how about a Mitsubishi FTO? A little older but an import will have low mileage, good looks and ok performance (better than the others listed). It will be a high group for insurance but that doesnt necessarily mean high insurance. Reliability is pretty good and they dont suffer from too much modding because there isnt much you can do. Just a thought... and 5K should get you a good one. |

| For any of the cars you are looking for the insurance isnt likely to be budget. I would recommend you ring a few companies to get an idea of the costs, some can be very surprising. I was looking at getting a sports car this year, settled on the GTO. My choices were nearly all group 20 and yet the premiums were wildly different. Porsche 928S4 was the cheapest out of all the ones I looked at £300FC 0% NCB 37 years old. The GTO was the dearest at nearly £700, same terms. Similar age cars, similar spec. I pay over £300 for a mercedes 230E auto (not at all sporty) on similar terms also, no NCB. Check out owners club webbies for recommended insurers and call around, you may be pleasantly surprised. edit: Forgot to say I had several insurers quote me WELL over £2000. Use the phone, avoid the net for quotes and shop around. Theres no replacement for time and effort when it comes to getting insurance quotes. Last edited by Lemming; 13-11-2004 at 09:37 AM.. |

| Insurance doesnt make sense half the time I did some quotes and the 1.4i puma was £630 while the 1.7 was £560 and if you can figure out why a quicker car is cheaper to insure your cleverer than me ![]() I had a look at fto prices but the age puts me off , they were around a 1996 which is older than my current car. I had another looks at pug gti's and I think its my prefered choice at the moment. Fiesta/Focus are out of the running as they arent quick enough/too big for me. I want to have a look at a polo gti but I've not seen one in any of the garages around ere yet. |

| I sold a pug gti about a month ago, Tremendous fun sporty little ka. The handling is fantastic, interior is a bit bland and plasticy and pedals are quite small and close together. However, i'd recommend one any day! |

| Want to know about Preludes? Nip over to forum.hondarevolutions.com. If you read the mags they'd say the following so far : Best Handling - Puma Best Steering - Focus Best Image - A3 Best Reliability - Civic Best Residuals - A3 Cheapest to Run - Fiesta Smallest - Lupo Personnaly I'd run a mile from Pug build quality and reliability. A good one can last for years but even an average one will have you back to the garage every other tank of fuel. VW build is good but reliability is distinctly average according to recent surveys. They respond well to good keeping though. Ford. More expensive to service than you might think so avoid main dealers like the plague. There is always a good selection of Fords available (car supermarkets can have 50+ Focus's at any one time for example) so be extremely picky. Even Pumas are reasonably abundant. General Hnda build quality is good. Reliability is consistantly amoungst the best manufacturers, despite the Civic being built in Swindon (well most versions anyway). As always choose condition carefully. Good luck! If I think of any others to throw at ya they'll be here! 1 : Q9450 | 4Gb PC8500 DMX | ASUS P5E-WS Pro | HD2900XT | 2 x 750Gb (RAID1) | Adaptec ASR-2230SLP SCSI | DVDRW | Corsair 650W TX | CM RC-590 | 2x VP171s-2 | HP Ultrium 960 LTO3 | XP SP3 Pro 2 : X2 4200+ | 2Gb PC3200 | ASUS A8N-SLI Premium | 6600GT | SonicFury | 8x 250Gb (2x RAID10) | 3Ware 9650SE-8LPML | DVDRW | Seasonic 700W | CM Stacker 830 | 2x VP171s-2 | XP SP3 Pro 3 : Sm 3100+ | 1Gb PC3200 | ASUS K8N-E Deluxe | 9800 Pro | 4 x 250Gb Maxline III (RAID10) | DVDRW | CDRW | Tagan 530W Easycon | CM ATC-201B-BXT Black Widow | W7 RC W : Dell Precision 690 | Intel X5355 | 4Gb FBDIMM | Quadro FX3450 | 2x 146Gb 15k SAS (RAID1) | DVDRW | DVD | 2x 2007FP | XP SP3 Pro

| I know I'm gonna sound SOOOO VAUXHALL....but No one has said Astra 2.2 SRi They have 147bhp, handle like heaven (understeer on the limit, can be provoked if need be to oversteer, but safely-so, chain driven all-alloy engine (VX220 unit) and you wont die if you crash it cos they're strong. They are good value, well made (in comparison to Fiat) and youo can ignore normal Astra's cos they aint the same at all. What Car had it as Hot Hatch of the year 2 years ago, and if you get a Style Pack version it looks nice, and if you get a normal one, its quite stealthy. And besides.....they are good to drive ![]() Agent = Hardware Homosapien | Zak33 = Hardware Homonid - just call me "Lucy" |
