    I've had a plan :)

Following on from Shads claims on his 0-60 time with no interior , I decided to help him find the truth ( its out there somewhere )

I had a G-tech performance gauge gathering dust in my glove box

so I've decided to lend it to Shad so we can see how much difference it makes.

Now I'm sure there are plenty of folk who really want to know what they can get , in their own car in terms of 0-60 times.

so what I propose is the following.

When Shad has tested his car ( and posted up suitable photos ) he will post it onto someone else ( recorded del. please ) to do a similar test. The cycle can keep going for as long as it needs to , though at some point I would like it back.

Form an orderly queue - I reserve the right to not send the meter to those who I really don't know / trust

Ooo yess sounds like a good idea!

I my poor litle skinny 205 wide tyres are the weakpoint on 0-60 launch for me i think, need to get some 245's on there ASAP.

I'll sign up when i change my car. I don't think knowing whether its 14s or 15s is gonna make much difference to me at the moment. But sounds like a good idea.

Just noticed that it needs a lighter socket - don't have that either lol.

Not needing it (cos I have of my own) but just to point out that they're pretty deadly accurate.

Hardest part is finding a nice flat, disused road to use as you test strip.

Input your vehicles weight - either use the braked weight (available from any good MOT testing station) or if you're particularly sad, find a weigh bridge (the local council tip where I used to live had one! Slip the guy a few quid )
After inputing your weight, find your flat road and launch.

    /Loriel mode on:

    Here comes the science bit.

    /loriel mode off:

Once you accelarate to 60 it displays your 0-60 time. Continue to accelerate it'll measure your 1/4 mile time, complete with exit speed.
Brake hard and it'll measure you 60-0 stopping distance in feet.
At the end of it all, it'll also tell you how much power AT THE WHEELS you have.

and a few of us can compare it to the rolling road figures we already have.

One of the best threads ever in this forum was when Zak explained how, as long as the compound of the tyre was the same, the width of the tyre made no difference to the amount of grip. Of course, if you're upgrading to something grippier.....

I'll reserve a place in the queue if I may, although I fear for the effects on my clutch of a hard launch or two.

why thank you dear chap. Lots of people still find it hard to believe. I have to to stand on a sheet of wood and get them to pull me along the floor on it....then i stand on a smaller bit of the same sort of wood and do the same.

If the wood is 12 foot long its often EASIER than if its 1 foot long...and that blows their MINDS even with its larger surface area.

Thankfully RocketManX was hear to help me with that thread.
