    Reverse light flashing briefly

Sometimes I see the reverse light flashing for a split second on some cars, now I remember Zak mentioned why here a while ago but I can't remember, or find the thread.
    Anyone care to enlighten me?

It's something to do with changing gears or something iirc

Because to select drive (i.e forward) you have to go through reverse first... hence the split second flash as reverse is momentarily selected.

The other way to tell if a cars automatic is if the drivers so god damn lazy that they cant be bothered to take their left foot off the brake pedal

Or its a Mercedes. But tbh they need to press brakes before they can switch into drive so that may explain it.

Sorry, i was referring to whilst driving down the road, not while standing still and selecting gear

Unless....... they are running a Reverse pattern shifter
Gah - now youve got me thinking - 99% sure they are R, N, 1, 2, 3 (with R towards the rear of the car)
