Huge Free Renault Festival Set For Donington In September

A huge two-day motorsport festival offering free entry to tens of thousands of enthusiasts, promises to be among this country’s best-attended race meetings when the all-new World Series by Renault comes to Leicestershire’s Donington Park circuit on Saturday and Sunday, 10th/11th September.

It marks the eagerly-anticipated race debut of the awesome Mégane Trophy racer and spectators will also get chance to see Grand Prix stars-in-waiting racing in the brand new Formula 1-style FR 3.5 single-seater.

The meeting gives UK race fans the chance to see for free the British leg of the new World Series by Renault, pan-European motor racing package. Among the highlights, Renault’s Grand Prix-winning R24 Formula One car will perform daily demonstration laps of Donington Park. Already this year, Renault F1 Team’s Italian driver Giancarlo Fisichella scored a victory during the opening round of the F1 season in Melbourne, Australia, while Spanish team-mate Fernando Alonso continued the team’s 100 per cent start to the year, winning in both Malaysia and Bahrain.

Over 100 years of Renault motorsport will be celebrated with enthusiasts being treated to a mouth-watering journey in time featuring landmark cars from the amazing 1902 Type K Paris-Vienna road-race winner to its 1977 ground-breaking turbo-charged RS01 Formula One.

Spectators will then have the chance to watch the action unfold in the potentially crucial 15th and 16th rounds of the Formula Renault UK Championship with Michelin and ELF Renault Clio Cup – both series usually supporting the high-profile British Touring Car Championship throughout the year.

Tim Jackson, Renault UK Motorsport Manager, commented: “We have been planning this event for two years and I am delighted to confirm the British round of the World Series by Renault will take place on 10th/11th September at Donington Park, perhaps the most easily accessible motorsport venue in the UK for race fans from right across the country.

“It’s a highly important event for us and we’re working very hard alongside our colleagues in France and UK partners to ensure British race fans enjoy their best day out of the year – and what’s more, entry will be completely free of charge.

“This will be a truly unique and ground-breaking festival of motorsport with the chance for UK fans to witness the very best in European race action. The appearance of the Renault F1 Team’s World Championship challenger is a major coup and we will also be displaying our wealth of road-cars. It promises to be a great event for all the family with a funfair for the kids, F1 racing simulator and a dynamic road safety experience.”

For further information and to find out more about how to obtain free tickets to the British round of the World Series by Renault, please call 0800 0892244. The latest news and developments can be found at www.renaultsport.co.uk
Sounds like fun, even if it's for a French car maker

    My car's in the paddock

WRS is the best free car event you could hope for, amazing racing to watch and plenty of great cars to see. Well worth a trip out if you have tickets.

They're both pretty much the same. Saturday is slightly longer, but tbh whichever day has the best weather will be the one to go for

Has anyone been to Donnington before? What's the parking situation like? Do we have to leave early to get a good space (or any space at all!).

    Cheers,

    Suman
