    Tour de France ;)

Anyone done a french driving tour before?
We've come up with the following plan:

27/08 = Arrive Calais (EuroTunnel Probably), Drive to Reims
    28/08 = Reims
    29/08 = Drive to Dijon
    30/08 = Dijon
    31/08 = Drive to Lyon
    01/09 = Lyon
    02/09 = Drive to Marseille
    03/09 = Marseille
    04/09 = Marseille
    05/09 = Drive to Toulouse
    06/09 = Toulouse
    07/09 = Drive to Bordeaux
    08/09 = Bordeaux
09/09 = Drive to Le Mans
    10/09 = Drive to Rouen
    11/09 = Drive to Calais

Basically this is a circular tour of France. Estimated milage = 1600 miles (26hrs of driving over the trip).

Aiming to leave each place at 12/1pm each day, so we'll have a minimum of an afternoon/evening and a morning at each place (other places you will get a full day plus the evening before and morning after etc).

We've picked these places because there is a maximum of 3.5hrs (or there abouts) between each place.
The longest Leg is Marseille to Toulouse for example.

    Thoughts? Input?

earlier in the year my old beat up car was loaded with surfboards, people and kit and driven to anglet (very south-west most corner) - we did brighton -> bourdeux in 1 day which was 600 miles plus the ferry. i was driving and found it fine - we stuck mainly to the n-roads (basically our a-roads) and the roads were lovely, gorgeous views etc..

I'd say you'd simply HAVE to go to -Loheac

Try and make it a MINIMUM of an afternoon, ideally a day.

Whats so good you ask? This

Take a camera, LOTS of film/media and probably clean underwear.

    Thats not bad really

+ whatever you do back in the UK coming to and from your house.

My dads mate went to Le Mans the other week with his lamborghini and spent £400 on fuel.

i know you've not got one at the mo, but diesel is much cheaper over there (~60p/litre as opposed to ~90 for petrol).

i would strongly reccomend tours.. its a really nice place, with stunning archetecture and an awesome nightlife. should be nearish your route..
