    Golf GTI ---> 106 GTI

Ok, I have a heavily modded Golf GTI 16v with approx 170Bhp.

But basically, its getting old its only a '97 P but it was designed in 1992 FFS. So I wanted a newer car, smaller engine, quick and smart.

    I narrowed it down to

    Pug 106 GTI 16v - 120Bhp - 127ish Mph - 0-60 = 7.6secs
    Citroen Saxo VTS 16v - 120Bhp - 127ish Mph - 0-60 = 7.6secs
    Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec - 100Bhp - 115ish Mph - 0-60 = 10.5secs
    Vauxhall Astra 1.6 SXI - 100Bhp - 118ishMph - 0-60 = 10.0secs

The Saxo and the 106 are basically the same car.

Astra 1.6 can do 118 ish???

My mam has a 1.4 16v Astra V reg and i managed to get 120 out of it! book top speed is 112mph though. yeh yeh i know speedo's arent accurate at higher speeds but the Astra 1.6 will do more than 118!!!!!!!!

I would go for the Astra. 106 and saxo are too small...

If you defintely want to get one those cars, I would go for the 106 gti... looks loads better than a vts. (this is coming from a VTR owner!)

I would have had one, but insurance would be even worse than it as at the mo.

    Handling is awesome too.

Aren't they all so... dull? You see an example of each on every street corner!

Dis-regard the Focus if you like engine noise, and the Astra has just got bland written all over it. 106 gets my vote, slightly less common and boy-racery than the Paxo. Only problem with the 106 is the god awful pedal arrangement.

Maybe hold out for a C2 VTR?

Or what about an Ibiza Cupra?

    My name is Simon

C2 VTR is supposed to be a rather bland drive... compared to the saxo anyway.

Saxo pedals are the same as 106 pedals... close together... but you get used to it pretty quickly.

Saxo VTS dull? I've heard them called many different things, one of which is not dull. Infact, it's one thing it is not. Get the 106 Gti, as there are less around, and have fun.

    Pug 106gti.

The VTS is nice but they're way too boy racery - there's a horrendously modded one round the corner from me with every bit of plastic going bolted on and SAXO in big letters across the sides. ugh.

    Mini!!!!!

    ROBBERY!!

anywayz, ill grab the cam and take some shots...

bodywork mods = front skirt, full bodykit spray, exhaust (not daft one tho), sills, red calipers, smoked lenses.... i was gonna fire some 18" wheels on it.. but.. well... its getting changed instead.
