I bet it still handles like a Vectra, ie, nowhere near as good as the competition. I'd be suprised if its better than the ST220 etc, Vauxhalls answer seems to be 'make it go fast!' and thats about it..

If its like the Astra VXR then Fox will have a point, the Astra VXR is powerful yes with 240bhp or there abouts but put a little to much power down when trying to turn and the car gives up, nice car though shame about the ride

Oh - that really is a shot across the ST220's bow, even styling wise (as stylish as evermans cars ever get
)Still didn't expect them to go with the turbo route to compete, considering the ST220's 3L puts out a nice amount N/A. Still, I wanna get a go in an ST-TDCi mondeo with the 150+ 2.2 from the X-box to see if I can finally like a diesel

Autocar I believe it was, preferred the VXR over the competition for just the reason it was a NUTS car a bit like the 147 GTA. If you wanted absolute predictability then those drivers are better off with a fiesta imo.
However to curb some of the criticism (albeit lots of praise as well) my local dealer told me that the VXR had been delayed a bit to try and calm the issue down a tad. Yes the ST is a fantastic drivers car but it looks dated already and surely part of the appeal of such a car are the looks. Which imo and I think all the press agree, the VXR has in absolute bucket loads. Also with rumours of a 4x4 development and lightweight versions of the VXR it can only get better
