Thumbs up Rolling road run tomorrow. :)

Car's going in for a power run (along with 49 other performance Renaults) at a rolling road day I organised tomorrow at Europarts Motorsport in Stoke tomorrow.

1000 miles ago Doll and I changed the filters, oil, coolant and last night we changed the plugs and cleaned up the induction kit... The old plugs were in a bad way.. COVERED in soot which only confirms my (and my wallets') theory that it's running way too rich.

Still hopefully I'll have time to get that sorted tomorrow before the run.

    So peeps, predictions.

Last time it got 131bhp / 150lbs/ft. Since then the boost has gone up a from 14psi to 17, new Grp A carb, freeflowing exhaust and a slightly better intercooler witha new intake.

Personally I'm hoping for 145bhp. But we'll see.

    Sounds nice Lowe

I'm betting you'll see more increase in torque than HP.
I'd guess about 150 HP/ 175 ft. lbs. Higher than your guess but hey, it's only a guess

    141 bhp, 164lbs/ft
More if you get the jetting sorted so its not throwing petrol out the back (which im guessing started after the new carb went on...)
Have fun mate - cant wait to get my engine built and on the rollers (if I can find someone to take it!!)

It's throwing petrol out the back all right - check this out... idling for 5 mins from cold without choke!

The plugs were a similar colour as the floor.

I'll let you all know how I get on tomorrow.

    Got the results.

156.8bhp @6000 rpm, 159.9lb/ft @ 3865 and that was without touching the fueling. Running properly, I'd get a bit more. Car's booked in for next week.

    So, that's 196bhp/tonne (without driver)

Longer? What held in the gear like? The car was doing ~110mph in 4th on the rollers when it cuts out!

A bigger turbo would just mean that the run would be even shorter since it'd hit the red line so much quicker.

    ah, that explains that then.

not to sound even more dumb, but is there a possibility of car jumping off the rollers?

Yes, and it happened several times today.

The cars are strapped down, but even so when there's a huge surge of torque like there is when the turbo spools up it's possible to jump the rollers. A good operator will "feel" this before it actually happens and abort the run.

Since the cars are strapped so tightly it's unlikely for a car to jump off and surge forward, but it mucks up your reading, so the run has to be repeated.

And a fair bit less than my 213.4Bhp, but then my car weights a damn sight more than Lowe's Clio.
