    'Hizzy's' Chicane

As a mark of respect to one of Britain's greatest motorcycle riders, Steve Hislop, who was tragically killed in a helicopter accident last week, owners of Oulton Park, Brands Hatch Circuits Ltd, have today announced that they will be naming the new chicane, down by Knickerbrook at Oulton Park, 'Hizzy's'

"Hizzy's" Chicane Unveiled At Oulton Park As British Superbikes Pay Tribute
The hearts and minds of competitors and fans at this weekend's round of the British Superbike Championship will no doubt be with the family of 2002 BSB Champion, Steve Hislop, who was tragically killed in a helicopter crash last week. 'Hizzy' was due to return to the series this weekend and partner Sean Emmett in the ETI squad aboard his 2002 Championship winning Ducati.

The reigning BSB Champion will remain a legend in the world of motorcycle racing. In 1985, he raced in the Isle of Man TT for the first time and was immediately at home. He went on to become the fourth most successful TT rider of all time with a total of 11 wins, including four victories in the senior race - the TT's premier event. In total, he took the podium an incredible 19 times. But for many domestic fans, the victory held most dear is his win on the rotary-engined Norton in 1992 - the last time an all-British machine won a TT.

Unlike a lot of TT specialists, Hislop also excelled on conventional racing circuits. He won the British 250cc Supercup for Honda in 1990, was twice British Superbike Champion (1995 and 2003), and also won in World Superbike and World Endurance racing. Hislop excelled at endurance racing and was world champion in 1993.

As a mark of respect to one of Britain's greatest riders, owners of Oulton Park, Brands Hatch Circuits Ltd, have today announced that they will be naming the new chicane, down by Knickerbrook at Oulton Park, 'Hizzy's'.

BSB Series Director, Jos Foulston, confirmed: "To commemorate Steve Hislop's tragic passing we have arranged to pay tribute to the highly respected champion at Oulton Park this weekend. We will be naming the new chicane immediately prior to the warm-ups at 12:00pm on Sunday. I understand that Oulton Park was Steveas favourite UK circuit. As a mark of respect, Hizzy's 1992 TT Winning Norton Rotary will be ridden for one lap by MonsterMob Ducati's Stuart Easton o Hizzyas 2002 team mate and fellow resident of Hawick."

"Stuart will open the new corner by cutting a ribbon that will be placed across the circuit. His riding through it will officially open the new corner."

Hizzy's Norton Rotary will also be on display in Garage One all day on the Sunday of the race weekend. Fans will be able to see the bike and pay their respects during the pit lane walkabout. Flowers that have been left at the gates of Oulton Park will be placed in the garage with the bike over the course of the weekend. The bike will then be positioned at the front of the grid prior to Race 1, when there will be a one minute silence.

Foulston also confirmed that: "As a further mark of respect, we will be flying a Union Jack, a St Andrew's flag and a BSB flag at half mast throughout the weekend. All teams with flags above their transporters or hospitality units will also be requested to do the same. A number of teams will also be paying their respects in their own way."

A great rider and champion, Hislop will be sorely missed and remembered by all in the British motorcycling fraternity for years to come.
