    Seat Ibiza FR

    Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone owns one etc as I have a few questions?

Basically I seen this advertised on a local dealers website and have decided to part ex my Corsa (which i barely get £6k for). The Ibiza has done 30 miles (I done 8 of em) in total and been used as a demo car since its first reg in October 2005. Basically for a brand new car its a steal at alittle over £9k., so its such a good deal (too good to miss). I had a test drive yesterday and its extremely nippy, just wondering if anyone has any practical experience to offer me?

Example, whats the average cost for a services, spare parts etc and whats it like to run, how is it on fuel etc? The fuel figures seem extremely reasonable for a 1.8 Turbo, but just want to get some practical outlook on it. Also, is there a chance some little git will try and have a pop at it with it being "slightly" more lucrative than a 1.2 corsa and have FR badges all over it , even if it comes with cat 1 immobiliser and alarm fitted as standard?

Any advice or experiences would be marvellous

    Chris

Erm, me mates had one for about 4 weeks and has had crap loasd of problems with it.

It would die after 4000 revs, took it in, wasn't fixed given back. Got broken into, and the central locking was faulty on delivery so insurnace wouldn't pay out. Sent in again and now it doesn't start. Seat seem useless on the problem they've had his car for a fortnight and done crap all.

Couldn't wait to buy it eh?

I'm sure it will be OK.. just sounds like bad luck from what happened to MonkeyBum's friend (lol).

Well i had a call from the dealer saying someone in southampton wanted to buy it so he could only hold it for me til midday! So providing the finance goes through ok then its mine.. was hoping to have a bit more of a think, but kinda pressured myself into it as I cant forget the experience of driving it yesterday. I suppose its me changing my car from just an amenity to something I actually want and can see myself driving for years to come (and the residual will be much higher than the Corsa)

I suppose the saving grace is the fact it doesnt look like it has 150bhp (ie the new version has a beefy front bumper and rear bumper and generally looks a bit more aggresive). I had a drive in a Leon FR today too and OMG how fast! if anyone has a spare £17000 and wants a new fast car this thing leaves most for dust...

how much is the insurance going to be??

the reason its cheap is because its not a facelift model - it'll be worth a little less when time comes to sell.

I agree 5lab, but still more than my Corsa by hundreds if not thousands! These cars used having done 14k miles are still going for well over 9 and a half, so hopefully if I did come to resell then id make up some of what ive lost if that makes sense? I have managed to get a quote from elephant.co.uk for £950, the corsa will be £750 when I come to renew that so its not too bad...

Although, I still havent had the call of the finance approval as of yet so I might have to do without.

    Cheers for the advice all,
