PEUGEOT 306 XSI 2.0 16v 3dr HATCH
I think my car is about to die
, so its time to say goodbye to the E30 and look for something else.I dont wanna go above 2 litres but I would still like to have a bit of fun. SO.... the Peugeot 306 XSI 2.0 16v, anyone had any experience with them? Or got any other thoughts? And I have to admit being very tempted by a 200SX but I think a decent one may be out of my price range (2 grand max) cheers yall

I'm sure a 2 gran 306 will be ok - mine is a very old one and is not without its faults.
![]() a 200sx for 2 grand would be a nice S13 * or a slightly ropier s14 ![]() * such as this one http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=237092 |

Hehe yeah, the 306 has found itself a snug little home in the pitstop forum
![]() I still really like the thought of 200SX, but someone my mum works with is selling an M reg golf (1.6) with full history for 600/700 quid. I maybe have to be sensible and choose this for now. |

Get a proper car. You should be able to get a rather decent S13 200sx for £2k.
Insurance is far cheaper than you will expect, as well. Go Proper Wheel Drive. Say no to scrabble!!! Butuz ![]() RS-Watanabe GTR-32

Isn't the XSI an 8 valve? The GTI was the 16 Valve at the time. I had a XSI 3 door many years back. Was good to drive but reliability was horrendous (and I had it from new). Had the central locking failing randomly in cold weather, a leak into the rear footwell under heavy rain, engine stalls for no reason - traced to a faulty engine computer, spare wheel underneath so got stolen, brake pads worn after 12000 miles, scored the discs so needed new discs as well and some other minor issues. Also none of the dealers were anything to shout about. I went to one and they 'stole' my antenna and put a black plastic stick into it - went back to complain and they immediately returned my one without argument. So for me never a Peugeot ever again.

If I could just change my nick to Raz now that'd be perfik (mods?. .. uppy dog eyes !Thanks everyone. The 205 does sound like a bit of a laugh but something bigger would probably be better (also the only ones for sale locally are 1.1's or 1.4's). Ive not seen a 306 rallye at all anywhere let alone locally sounds interesting though. Again with the 200SX nothing local :/Anyone driven an M reg (or of the same mark) Golf GTi? james: Ill give it a look, thanks Alex: wow... sounds rough! :/ Last edited by Raz316; 18-09-2006 at 12:27 PM.. i have! and i owned a mk3 tdi before getting my mk4... golfs are good cars, do exactly what they say on the tin, but lack something - they don't drive that well (GTi excepted - it's a bit more involving) but they do feel solid..
the 323f was a ball though, sweet, sweet engine note, dynamically better than the golf and arguably more reliable too - do drive one if you can, and i swear the noise alone will make your mind up for you! |

the 306 rallye was marginally faster tha the gti-6 due to weight, but it looks better and are rare, i have got a mark 3 tdi atm and they are solid reliable things, have driven a mark 4 gti very breifly but cant comment on the mark 3, if its anything like my tdi then its a solid car with good build.
