    Oil test

Had the oil from my Prelude tested (I now work in an oil analysis lab).

Pretty much a clean bill of health - very little wear metals, good base protection, low acidity.

Going to change oil when we've got a quiet day and then test it either every 1k miles or maybe every month. We already bought a 25l drum of Fuchs semi-synthetic oil just need to find some time to change it.

25l must of cost a bit

Im currently working my way through 4x 5 liter bottles of the cheap stuff from lidl, cant remember the make but think its 15/40.

Interestingly I used to lose quite a bit of oil from what i suspect is the valve guildes on 1 cyclinder but that has reduced/compleatly stopped recently (although my fuel efficiency has also plumeted to exactly 25mpg for the last 3 fill ups...)

I think it was just under £50. It gets quite cheap if you order it by the barrel. And since there is also another Prelude here we can run the tests on both and compare the results.

We buy it 45 gallons (normal and semi) at a time, the fluctuation in price due to wars around the world is mad!.

Something tells me Jon_Bda will be the sort of chap to know the oil test for the old pinto engine.

Remember? Shake the filter and listen for shards of camshaft?
