HEXUS.net - beans :: Major UK IT businesses suffering at the hands of the rumour mill

Earlier this afternoon HEXUS started receiving an escalating number of suggestions, from multiple sources, that another one of the few home-grown, major PC manufacturers left standing in the UK, Evesham Computers, was believed to be in a dire financial crisis and had already entered into some kind of voluntary liquidation.

we reckon, that the dissemination of untruths designed to effectively harm the livelihoods of employees and the families, just to gain some short-term commercial advantage makes for a very ugly tactic.
    care to shed any light......?

i think that IF Hexus thought punters might lose their pants to a sinking ship if they ordered an item....it would be right to tell them.

but from the horses mouth, its not a problem and so its good to point that out instead. it all being one subject surely makes it wothy being in one piece of writing.

    or am i missing something?

Was he (Austin) saying that Evesham are up for sale - but that the details are being worked on ?

Nowt wrong with that - good luck to them

This kind of thing only stinks when the company being sold goes into some kind of liquidation to avoid debts/warranty issues - straightforward 'selling/refinancing of a company' is nothing to be ashamed of

(I also had the HEXUS forums on speed dial just in case )

the problem is...a company may be having a short-term cash flow problem...the story gets out...therefore no one (personal or business) will give money to them and they end up going under...very vicious circle
