They are still not up and running full pelt, when trying to add to basket some items are missing from the database. Should be intresting to see how this is going to unfold.

    Good news.

    Hi Guys

I work on the web team with JLT. You couldn't give us more info of the above error - any input would be great!

We've had to get a new site running in less than 24 hours so everythings very new, however watch out for loads of brilliant new products!

    Many Thanks

    Paul

    Hi Paul

As far as I was aware, the Overclock.co.uk domain was sold to you guys at JLT. I do not recall that taking our logo and a majority of my website design as being part of the deal?

Can you explain to me why you are using our logo etc?

    Thanks
    John

Will be interesting to see how the new Overclock develops. Hopefully they can still live up to the good customer service of the previous guys.

Exclamation Re: Overclock.co.uk throws in the towel

    Overclock.co.uk is BACK!!!!

    http://www.overclock.co.uk/news/#57

Overclock is back, am I seeing things?!

Yeah its true, overclock.co.uk is back, but the domain is now in the hands of JLT Computers LTD, so has both the financial backing and vast range of products to keep the site competitive with the big boys, as well as obviously supplying products which are bespoke to the Overclock tradition!

The site is a quick fix at the moment while we get things rolling again. The downside is previous customers will have to still follow the guidelines set in place for RMA’s, cancelled orders etc as we are not legally responsible for anything prior to 12th September 2007, however we will assist all previous customers where ever possible.

We want to put Overclock.co.uk back on the map, so will be striving to carry on the tradition of supplying the best in overclocking and performance parts.

We have a great infrastructure, great staff, and also the founder of TheCoolingShop.com actively involved in operations, so you can be rest assured that overclock.co.uk is in the right hands!

    To infintiy, and beyond!

Re: Overclock.co.uk throws in the towel

    So whats happening.

It sounds like JTL are a distributor thats simply sending out orders direct from themselves aswell as selling to other stores in the uk as they used to?

The way they have put it back together gives the impression they've taken over the stock/warehouse and everything thats overclock.co.uk but it seems as if all they've done is buy the domain. Did they buy out the stock as the stock is stupidly similar but in general distributors won't stock such varied items.

Its an incredible shame to lose overclock.co.uk and the guys there. I worked there for a time before leaving to go to uni. I completely lost contact which is a real shame as all the guys there are great, too much work (maybe a little too much drinking), too little time to do much else.

Sure you'll find people who had issues with rma's, most people i knew always had great help and service from them, i had no issue at all recommending them whenever I could and never had anyone complain about bad service, which is much more than i can say about a heck of a lot of the other uk stores.

If it is the case that the only thing JTL have bought is the domain name then John is right to be pissed off, they've just taken the site and completely ripped it off.

It seems very much than they have bought the overclock.co.uk branding and are trying to imply its service exactly as it was and trade off the good service overclock.co.uk have always provided. but essentially everything is different, theres nothing really to say JTL will be good with rma's, service or anything else as of yet.

I wouldn't write them off either, its an incredibly difficult segment of the market to run a store in and any advantage might give them a good start and enough business to offer a decent alternative to overclockers.co.uk and others. which in the end is good, and its hard to tell them not to try absolutely any possible means to get ahead of the game.

Was there anything to the rumour that someone involved had been ill, possibly long term?

one of the main reasons computer shops have to shut down is simple. You get more orders with lower prices, you need more orders, to make it possible to afford to buy items in larger quantities to be able to lower prices, you also need bigger warehouses to keep larger amount of stuff in stock. which you can't afford to rent/buy without making more money in the first place.

It seems good service was a reason to pay a little more for things while knowing any issues would be resolved quickly and well. But people are less and less willing to pay for good service and just live with places like overclockerS.co.uk with pretty pants service to save a few quid.

Re: Overclock.co.uk throws in the towel

JLT where made by an ex VIP member of staff who built them up then went to work for club 3d in holland, the guy who left was also the first person in the UK to import overclocking/modding products into the UK market.

Gary Jones (was that the J in JLT?) was the guy responsible for thermaltake, aerocool, razer, club 3d, to name but a few and now spends his time doing track days and chatting on car forums (where i know him from)

jlt have garys contact list, they are living of that and its only a matter of time before they run out of garys old contact list.

I hope they do well either way, just they real reason jlt are still afloat has long gone check out jlt's accounts at companies house, they have lost ALOT since Gary Jones left and if you meet Gary you will see why, hes a good guy who is very fair, I had an issue with returns when JLT bought tekheads from gary jones friends, I paid for that experience as did lots of others (search the newsgroups for proof)

    stay safe
