HEXUS.beans :: ATI Radeon X1800 XT, XL and Avivo in action

You might have read my article on Avivo earlier today and thought "dual dual-link DVI? LIES!". You might even have the stance that ATI's R5-series of products is the most talked about piece of vapourware since 3DRealms announced Duke Nukem Forever. Allow HEXUS to pictorially debunk both of those.

wtg, nice job! Does it look like the XT has a thermal pad connecting to HSF? Or is that some other component?

I hope they stay silver and don't paint some crap 'monster' on it... <sigh>

I looks like it has thermal pads connected to memory, as there seem to be several of them...

that kinda shows that there wont be a limiting factor using crossfire. I remember reading somewhere that theoretically that crossfire could only run a max res of 1600x1200. That wouldve have been really stupid of ati if it had been true.

It is true (sort of) for Crossfire with X8-series boards. Avivo and the presence of the dual-link TMDS on the GPU removes that for X18/16/13-series.

Nope. It only has one dual-link TMDS transmitter on the GPU, and NVIDIA don't hook up a second on their reference board and neither do any of their AIBs.

Does it support dual 23" screens at 1920x1200? Sounds more reasonable I suppose than two 2560x1600.

If it supports two 30" apples I think it'll support two 23" screens
