    HEXUS.beans :: X1950 loses the fans

    The reds reckon it can knock Nvidia's 7950 GX2 around a fair bit, but they won't want to be winning any awards for 'most obnoxious sounding SKU'. So, a silent cooling solution will be available to ATI's partners as an option, doing away with the fan that has, on many of ATI's SKUs over the last year or so, been cause for our frustration.

    A quick question, R580+ is the die shrink to 80nm, so what is R590??

    R580+ has no die shrink apparently, R590 no idea. R600 is DX10 card with 80nm die shrink.

    I've read numerous times it was NOT a die shrink... all the difference is that it has GDDR4 (which is really good because I also read somewhere that the X1900 is severely limited by its RAM..) I can't tell you the sources since I read soo many tech sites and don't actively list them in my head lol.

    Will it outperform my X1900XT @ 725/830 (stock voltages)?

    Edit: Actually Daily Tech beat you guys to the new cooler story by quite some time.
    http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=3446

    And HKEPC had a picture of another cooler. It basically is the the same cooler with a different fan and a different shroud. I can't seem to find that picture right now, although techPowerUp.com has a tiny one of it.

    See System Specs.

    Thank god ATi are moving away from huge, hot chips. passive colling is nice.

    more importantly, lower temps means easier overclocking

    When will these be in the shops? I'm looking for a new card at the moment and was going to go with a 1900XTX. Is it worth waiting for these to become avalible?
