Do you know what else I'm addicted to? Clean, freely running water, a fridge stocked with food, running lights, my own personal flushing toilet!.. being warm! Damn technology and advancements!!
Seriously, when are they going to start filling the nuthouses with the real quackpots?

There is a disease and cure for everything these days.
I laughed when Tiger Woods went to a 'sex clinic' because I thought they were joking, I didnt know they actually existed!
If only there was a rehab clinic for us slaves who go to work
No more than usual.....<ahem> moving on. Nothing to see here citizens.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
I am getting more addicted to old technology i.e. old consoles and games.
I just find them way more fun than newer games as they are played just for their gameplay and not gameplay and graphics.

I wanted to sign myself in for a couple of weeks rehab but they wouldn't let me take my laptop with me.

Off-topic a bit but I agree with your view on games - a lot of old games required you to think more or search for things etc and used to take a while to complete and IMO were more fun to play. Now most games seem to be constant firefights, no challenge, take mere hours to complete and the hard setting just makes them more frustrating. I'm not saying that applies to all games or anything but I do find it a lot. And like you said you play older games for actual gameplay and I find a lot of indie games fun for the same reason.
Back on topic - I completely agree with what aidanjt said, where will this stop - a lot of everyday things fit the criteria of addiction, it doesn't mean they're bad. But I also think people can get addicted to things like social networking for example when it gets to the point it interrupts work/sleep/exercise etc and generally effects your health. I'm not sure addiction is the right word to use but it can have health effects.
Yeah, 'sex addiction' is the best one by far. An evolutionary successful animal has an obsession with sex, who'd have thought.
++ on the old games too... 'New' games are all tired and bling filled, there's nothing engrossing about them at all.
Quake 2. Best EVAH.

yay another sick note excuse here i come!
time to start taking bets when the first company is sued for either not supporting the addiction (no internet use during work time) or feeding the addiction (making them use a computer)
It's the parents whoa re to blame. In our house, I have set time limits for my younger sibling.. 1.5 hrs. PS3 and another 1.5 hrs. PC on weekends and 2 on PS3 on weekdays. I kick him out if he starts exceeding this time.
I myself game only 1 hour everyday. ... unless I get carried away by MW2 MP!
