how best to get started with CS
Hi
Just bought CS:Source after a colleague at work who is a CS addict went on and on about and kept trying to persuade me to buy a copy. My question is, whats's the best way to get started with CS, is it best to spectate or just to get right on in there? Would appreciate any help you can give Cheers Mitch |

You could also try deathmatch servers for fun, gd way to improve and get ur skill level up. Or indeed just pop onto servers and play public or join in some mixes for the more competetive side of the game

Just keep trying. There's lots of hard people online so it might be worth trying to get a LAN setup with some friends OR find yourself an internet café that have CS:S running (great fun).

You could also try playing it with the bots. They are fairly stupid but it will give you a chance to get used to the maps/weapons without joining a public server only to get killed within 30seconds.
It may also be worth checking out some n00b servers. I know UK2 used to run a couple and to keep it newbies only, once you got to a certain score/level you got kicked (and banned?). |

Yes, creating a local game with bots will give you more of a chance to get into the swing of things without getting killed in 1st few seconds.
cs:source does have a huge strategy element to it, team strategy, you have to also learn how to out think your opponents aswell. Could also be worth watching your colleague and see how he/she plays. And you know what they say : You only get better by playing a harder opponent |

Just get playing the game, aim to learn one or two maps (dust, dust2 and aztec are fairly good maps to learn) with bots and then go onto a couple of servers (preferably ours!
), and hopefully you'll be spending time figuring out how to play rather than navigating your way around maps. |

Weapon range?
Hi
Just been on the hexus server this morning and keep getting creamed by someone called menardo who would appear to be a bit of a pro. (yeah I do work for a living but on lates this week) Am shooting directly at hime with the default weapon but which one is the best for long range shots? Cheers Mitch |
