Massive delays when changing maps on a lan server

    Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone has any light they can throw on my problem:
At our lan parties I host a dedicated CS:S server (the GUI one downloaded via Steam->Tools) on a local network not connected to the internet.

Everyone can see the server and clicks to join and the "loading..." progress bar pops up. when the bar is about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way through it just sits there for ages doing nothing, no disk activity, minimal CPU and you can't click the "cancel" button.
After what seems an eternity the map finishes loading and then we can all play the level.

Repeat this problem everytime the map changes to the next in the cycle.

We thought it might be a network/IP issue but we can't see anything that is wrong.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Andy.

Try hosting a game without using the dedicated server. Using the dedi tool means that your pc has to load it all twice.

you could also set the core affinity to the other core, so ur not running the dedicated server on the core you're using to play source
