Well after 1 hour i gave up trying to get online last night.
I was getting text invites last night but i went to multiplayer and tried but failed to connect. I had 2 mates that were playing online and both were trying to invite me, one of my mates had been trying the night before for a while with no luck and managed it last night.
It sounded alot of fun from the stories they're telling me this morning, but it seems this online problem isnt just me...

On my TV (non HDCP btw) I have an HDMI-DVI adapter for video, and the standard scart outputs for audio (component?) with a 3.5mm stereo to 2xRCA Phono adapter (Amazon.co.uk: Ex-Pro Premium 2 x RCA Phono Sockets to 3.5mm Jack - Gold plated for superior connection.: Electronics & Photo for example) into a 3.5mm socket on my TV for audio, works a dream... but I do want a new TV now.

I have a similiar setup for my Dell monitor. Just make sure to set the audio to go through the component output rather than the HDMI and it should be fine. Of course, it means you have more wires unfortunately.

Output the sound through either the optical output, which I do and have it connected to my Logitech Z5500 speakers, or you could use the audio input cables, red and white ones, if your speaker system doesnt have optical.

The great thing about this game is the amount of stories that people have after only a few days playing. The only other time i've experienced anything close to this was when Battlefield 1942 came out and peeps were talking about planes crashing in mid-air and landing on their mates jeep, which exploded and sent them flying... in to a helicopter. Or something.

GTA IV is full of class moments. This game truely is bigger and better than the sum of it's parts.

Josh, I feel for you m8. Though I have a Box from November and (fingers cossed) shouldn't have the RROD issue!!

exactly. im done messing around with an xbox. not gunna buy a single thing for it anymore and gunna get a ps3 instead. i cant be asked with all this headache. and to say that consoles are better then pc's is a bloody joke mate. no overheating in pc's, no stupid freezes in games especialy crysis ffs.

you lot are happy with a 360 now but if you gone through the bull crap i went through you would be saying the same thing. bloody pathetic MS. how this got through quality control is behond me.

Finally managed to get GTA 4 today, watched the opening cutscene, loved it, got in Roman's car and....... FREEZE. Couldn't even get back to the dashboard. Just stuck on the same frame. I now have to take it back to Game tommorow and hope they have another copy in Stock.

Currys - sold out
I then went in Toy 'R' Us and....2 copies left! Now iit's mine!

And not long after writing that i managed to get online with 5 other friends and after a small mess around on party play, we done deathmatch, team deathmatch and hangmans noose (which at first is pretty dam confusing). Loved every minute and all seems to be working fine now. .. strange

reports are that ps3 gta4 multiplayer has been pretty wobbly since launch
