Re: XBox 360 or Not?
Thing is, when games like Fallout 3 out for PC I'll be spending money upgrading for that one game.
And gaming is the the only reason to go through these upgrades. Other than that my PC will probably be capable of other tasks for another five years. Still having trouble bringing myself to buy XBox 360 though. Bill Gates is Evil. If he ain't trying to get us cough up money on a new OS and the promise of DX10, He's selling you Plastic consoles that cook themselves to death. |

Re: XBox 360 or Not?
i've had my 360 since december i bought it for a couple of games at the time.
i said to the missus when i bought it theres only about 4 games i like on the 360. i know have 23 games including gta4. i love my 360 i barely play on my pc anymore. and GTA 4 is not the greatest game in the world but if you like gta you'll probably love it. i usually get bored with gta but not this one so far!! |

Xbox360 gpu upgrade reported by the Register for August 2008
Boils down to how long you are willing to wait to play a game on a potentially stable xbox 360 supposedly coming out around August 2008 |

Money is an issue in this but it doesn't stop me enjoying games. ![]() So unless the Elite package offers any fixes for the heat problem I'm better off going for a premium console? |

Re: XBox 360 or Not?
Thinking of getting one myself... Really cannot justify £400 for a PS3 and not having GTA IV is tearing me apart! eBay is £179.99 for 360 Premium and withing collection distance from me.

Re: XBox 360 or Not?
it would be roughly the same price to buy a 360 premium/pro (pro is the hdmi version) from say, game as the retail price is £180 i think now so it would be wise to get from retail rather than ebay.

As it is, I'd look at a 20/22" monitor and 8800GT. Which motherboard have you got? It's only 50-odd squids for a reasonable i965 motherboard. ![]() Then again... GTA4, Halo 3 and a 360 Premium for £200... crikey, no wonder you're in a bind. ![]() |

Re: XBox 360 or Not?
I've been "out" of PC gaming for a long time now - but my housemate has an 360 Elite and I've spend a long time playing on it. Fankly it's fantastic.
OK - they are not the most reliable - but this elite is about 9 months old now and hasnt really missed a beat. All the games are good, the graphics are very good @ 1080p, its an easy switch on and switch off, you can download films demos and whatnot with no nonsense - all my PC does now is type. I'd never go back to upgrading graphics card and mobos every 6 months - I'd rather spend the £hundreds per year (for some on here, £thousands) on 360 games and not ever need to pick up a screwdriver. One convert here!!! Butuz |

because of that i decided to buy a ps3 as i was thinking of upgrading my pc but tbh the games i wanna play is mostly on the consoles now plus nehalem is around the corner and todays core2 will be obsolete very very soon. this time next year i will final ditch my p4 3.2ghz for a new socket which should be fun |

Re: XBox 360 or Not?
My 360 has been working fine since release day with some fairly heavy use. They don't all explode after 10 minutes!

Re: XBox 360 or Not?
horses for courses methinks...
I refused to buy an xbox the first time around, but the temptation of the xbox360 was too much, i caved in and got one. I know have a media extender as well as a gaming console and it's hardly ever off, no issues <touches wood> thus far and MS have covered the RROD for an extended period now anyway, so there's nothing to worry about. personally, i opted for the 360 as i like the 'console experience' of the whole 'start up and go' , shove your game in and you're away.... of course, PC's have their plus points, which many will argue, so it's down to personal preference really. ![]() |
