    Re: XBox 360 or Not?

It wasn't - so its a pointless question.

However - if the PS3 did come out the same time - it would be just as, if not more unreliable than the 360 due to being rushed!

From what I know of the development of game titles, no, it wouldn't. The 360 SDK and support from MS is just so much better geared up for developers with experience of either consoles or PC games.

As for Home.. how long did it take after launch for Live! to be released?

    of the 360? launch day

for CaseyV9, perhaps this is a chance to buy a nice shiny new monitor - a modern widescreen TFT would support HDCP, and be playable in HD from a ps3. a 17" screen is a bit pokey - i'm replacing the wife's fr'example

the xbox launched in late 2001 in yankland, with xbox live launching in late 2002. the feature list was pretty close to the current psn one, actually - e.g. no ingame messengering, but functional voice chat

Yep Live was implemented on the original Xbox, it was launched 2 years (i think) after the console was released, with MotoGP being the game of choice for its launch. It had friends list, not sure about invites & messenger tho, can't remember.

If you're going to talk updates then how long is it since the PS came out? Surely enough time to have figured out just about every feature you'd want in a console.

Anyway this is all a bit silly - none of us should be providing excuses for any of these companies. The fact of the matter is that Home isn't available here and now. All any of us can do is judge the market as we see it today and make our own decisions. Me? I'm sticking with my trusty Gamecube and when anyone can come back to me with anything half as fun to play with a group of mates after a night out I'll start paying attention

Yep, the wii has my attention, but at the moment it's too expensive for what it gives us over a Gamecube (which cost £55 new inc memory card etc.)

Don't knock the gamecube, there were/are some seriously good games for that.
It's a shame that many of them are so hard to find these days.

i'll make the statement that if you have 4 friends in the room, that the Wii is much more fun than either of the other two consoles for 4 players.
