What you have to remember is that no one will give you a 100% guarantee that something won't fail, you've just been very unlucky with your 360's. Although i do blame MS for trying to ignore the failure rates, they should have given a lifetime warranty on the RROD as 3 years is just not long enough imo.

Re: XBox 360 or Not?
yes i have realized that nothing is 100%. it seems that the more advance a technology is the less reliable they are.
take for example the nokia n95. when that was released it was full of major bugs and issues. i even had to return one due to it and recently i got a N82 and that had issues too. its a shame that companies dont make quality control there number 1 priority. i dont like how MS deals with the rrod. instead of sending the user a brand enw one all they do is send a refurb every time which is shocking and unaccetable. its a well known problem that stops the 360 for being the best console this generation. its a shame because i realy love the 360 and its games but the reliability of it is not acceptable and much rather have a ps3 thats more reliable(yes its not 100%) then a console that doesnt even last 3months without breaking |

Re: XBox 360 or Not?
I personally have had a lot of reliability issues with PC's but a lack of with my 360, which in contrast to the post above, shows a lot of variation in experience. But eventhough my laptop is completely capable of playing a lot of modern games, I now only play games on my 360.
The PS3 has a very high reliability rate and at the price it currently is these days, it's becoming quite tempting. |

Re: XBox 360 or Not?
I think I'm giving serious thought into buying an XBox 360.
I won't really need to upgade my PC fpr a while as it performs okay. It's just some games I want to play are not out on PC. If I removed the DVD drive out of the XBox and put 2x 120mm fans over the GPU and CPU, would you have the fans blowing inwards or outwards? |

Re: XBox 360 or Not?
Why would you want to modify the 360?
The beauty of it is that you get it out of the box, plug it in and play, no setup required. Oh, and by removing the DVD drive you will most certainly void the warranty, and as such if you do have any problems, will be royally stuffed. Much the same as these Intercooler things which just increase temperatures. If you get a recent 360 then they are a hell of a lot cooler than the older ones (mine sits on top of the SkyHD box and next to a shuttle PC and never gets more than warm, even after 5-6 hours of play. |

I was torn between the 360 and PS3 too. In the end reliability and noise were the deciding factors for me. The price of the 360 peripherals is also very prohibitive. The wifi and HDDs are extortionate. |

nm, found this old thread which kinda answers my question : Upgrading the PS3 HDD Seems to require a 2.5" sataI 5400rpm hdd |

Re: XBox 360 or Not?
Nobody can tell you to 'go and get an xbox 360' it's a personal decision really.
Either you want one because of the games that are available, or the live system or even both. |

There is no end of story, cos each person has their own preferences, likes & dislikes. |
