    Anyone know about Steam?

I recently built my new PC, i wanted to play CS:S the only game which I bought through Steam. When i first bought it a year or so back, i printed off my login details as it suggested, however after downloading steam now its not letting me log in?

Do I need to activate a new pc before it lets me log, any ideas?

Not as far as I know - I've switched computers/installs many times without problem. Did you get your details correct?

Yeah, you can switch computers/installs many times - it doesn't matter. Maybe email for support if it still doesn't work after double-checking your details.

You dont need to re-register at all, i would suggest you use the request your password facility and see if that works ..

    Thanks

Yeah thats what Ive done now, after 5minutes of it trying to distract me from asking a question with a FAQ list

Im thinking it might of been made unactive after not being used in a while, but that would be usual :S

I hate to say it, but there's the slight chance the account got hacked sometime. Unlikely, but its possible, and that could explain why your password no longer works. Or, they may just be experiencing servers problems; the day I bought the Orange Box, I couldn't log back in for several hours (a crappy coincidence if I say so!). I'd contact them or wait a few hours and see what happens.

I'd agree there is a slightly chance if your email isn't working in the password reset and you cannot login with your details that your account got hacked and they changed everything, as mentioned I would contact Steam directly to find out what is going on. They definitely wouldn't deactivate an account for not being used, and certainly wouldn't delete one.

I'm sure that steam accounts don't get deactivated after a long period of time. I recently stumbled across my really old steam login that had my half-life (original) registered to it only and that still worked (it hasn't been used in about 4 years!)

Y'know.. when I first saw this topic, I thought it was some person saying they'd just found out about Steam.... I had some wierdo trying to tell me about it the other day.

But yeah - like people have said - Steam details are fine across computers (as I have used Steam on about 3 or 4 different computers with the same logins )

What - do you mean as in: "I heated up some water the other day and this strange swirly cloud of gas was given off..."?! Or not quite that dumb?

Yep.. they're that dumb. Bit like some hexus users, only without the specialist knowledge of computers that everyone seems to aquire or have here.

    Re: Anyone know about Steam?

Silly question maybe but you haven't changed email address in the year since?
My account name is one of my old email addresses and you can't change the account name once it's setup so i have to remember that if i rebuild my PC
