    GTi Racing

    Hey all

i got bored last night and decided to install GTi Racing. i got it free with my 8800gtx. ive been after a good driving game for a while but i thought this would be crud so i shelved it.

it turns out its not a bad little game at all. its not massive in depth but the core element is there. the cars handle really well and it does feel like you are actually in control. its the first racer in ages that i feel im actually racing.

i would love to try this in multiplay, i can only see one server and that is unavailable. i looked on their website for a patch or any kind of community sites but there is nothing but a few screenies and a buy now section as far as i can see.

i was wondering is anyone playing this at all and if so any info would be great.

    many thx.

I bought it on Steam for just a couple of quid a (good) while back, but I haven't played it since.

From what I can remember, you can finish the race, having gone flat out the whole time - i.e. you don't even have to lift off in corners?

And AFAIK, there are no patches/updates available for it?

    Re: GTi Racing

its not a race sim, its just a racing game, which is what i was after. something to blast around and have a bit of fun. im not after any realism fix, im after some good old fashioned gameplay.

i think multiplay would be good fun with a few like minded VW lovers on board.

the cars only do 125mph so a fair amount of the course can be done at high speeds yes. but as for going round the course without lifting off, if that was the case I would not have played it for 30 minutes let alone all day long.

    Cheers.

May have to grab this tomorrow if it's going for a few quid, I tried it at a friends place and it seemed quite fun

    Re: GTi Racing

If you do grab it give me a nudge if you like. one of us can crack open a server and we can have a little bit of "V DUB" action if your up for it

I think looking at it the game has fell by the wayside in terms of Interest and support. There is absloutly no content on the website only a few screenies and nothing else.

Basically the game is no Need for Speed or GranTourismo etc and thats the whole problem I guess. 99% of gamers want a lot of varition in a game. I`m the same in most respects but for a bit of driving fun this has hit the nail on the head for me.

    Cheers

I shall indeed, you can get itwith xpand rally for a few quid more which I think is what I'll do. I don't mind paying for games when they are that cheap.

I did emjoy blatting it around in a Mark 1 Golf when I played GTI racing over at a mates place

Just purchased it on Steam along with Xpand rally, at $8 something it didn't seem like a bad deal, two games for essentially a fiver

Will let the download start when I'm in bed after midnight so as not to mess with the 30 gig cap we have on during peak times (6 - Midnight) Comes down at full tilt after then too.

It's actually quite a good game, it may nt be much to look at, but I'm a sucker for anything with a VW Glf in it (had one as my first car )

Like i said its just a basic racer thats ok for a blast around. Its not going to set the world alight by any means. The game itself has given me some "fun" which is what ive sorely missed latley.

@ Behemoth.. I had a MKI GTi also it was my first real car after the Fiat i learnt to crash in.

I had it for 8 years and it never let me down. I cant remember anything ever over taking me (apart from the filth).

Mine was jet black, lowered, tints etc. i used to call it the Interceptor.

"Oh man they were the days hey"?

    Cheers .

btw. if you do fancy a rip around let me know im free saturday night onwards

My first car was a Mk2, not a Mk1, had it ofr 10 months before some idiot hit in a car park and I bought another car (Nissan Bluebird)

Give me a shout on MSN or something and we'll have a race in whatever we've got lol
