Nope. If you must, upgrade when it comes out. |

Re: OK so I'm wondering if I will want to upgrade my PC now for Fallout 3
I've decided I'm getting this on the 360, less messing about allround. I'm virtually done now with having to contantly upgrade my PC just to run newest games. Yeah I will still upgrade but it will be just for normal type RPG's. Things like Guild Wars and LOTRO which don't require the earth to run them.

I'll be playing this one on the 360 aswell.
I won't upgrade until Diablo 3 comes out and buy then then I would have got my moneys worth out of my current hardware. Anyway, have the games PC requirements been releasded yet? |

No specs out yet, but I'm thinking dual core might be a minimum spec. Which means I'll need to upgrade.

Hopefully fallout 3 won't be too bad, it uses the gamebyro engine like Oblivion... just depends how much they have altered it really (probably a lot!) |

I know what you mean. I'm seriously considering selling my PC partts and just buying a cheap laptop for portability. I haven't played a single game on my PC since January...bit of a waste of a quad core and a 8800GT really, seeing as it just plays music and browses the web!

Re: OK so I'm wondering if I will want to upgrade my PC now for Fallout 3
s_Kinton, have you thought about that "stream my game" thing? if you have a decent console you can stream PC games to it and play them in your front room... might make it worth while keeping your PC?
Not sure if its expensive? not really looked into it properly, I think the home wifi streaming is free? I'll have to give it a try, would be interesting to play e.g. Bioshock on my Eee. Consequently, I bought my Eee just for web browsing etc... seems like a big waste of power to use my gaming rig to check emails etc... like buying a race horse to eat grass. |

Re: OK so I'm wondering if I will want to upgrade my PC now for Fallout 3
Supported OS: Windows XP/Windows Vista (only)
Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better recommended) RAM: 1 GB Windows XP / 2 GB Windows Vista Video Card: 256 MB DirectX 10.0-compliant video card or DirectX 9.0-compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (see supported list)* Sound Card: DirectX 9.0 or 10.0-compliant sound card (5.1 sound card recommended) DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0 or10.0 libraries (included on disc) DVDROM: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive Hard Drive Space: 8 GB Peripherals Supported: Keyboard, mouse, optional controller (Xbox 360 Controller for Windows recommended) *Supported Video Cards at Time of Release: ATI RADEON X1600*/1650*-1950/HD 2000/3000 series NVIDIA GeForce 6800*/7/8/9 series *PCI Express only supported Seems fine to me. Dual core is the obvious 'steep' requirement, but they've been available for years, and you can often get away with single core as long as you set the application priority to high. |

Re: OK so I'm wondering if I will want to upgrade my PC now for Fallout 3
And it will probably be pretty awful. I've still got my fingers crossed that it will be a 95%er, but I think the recent videos have lowered the odds somewhat.
Still, that was only the 360 version they demoed. Shifting to PC controls may fix the apparent clunkiness of stuff. Plus, everyone who has played it (admittedly only for half an hour or so) has said it's really engrossing. Fingers crossed, then! ![]() |
