Thumbs up Splinter Cell : Pandora Tommorow

Had this a few days now and have started to get into it big time. The difficulty is alot higher than the first one and some of the DX9 effects / textures look fantastic.

Its the same as the 1st one overall with a new story, but on this one you get to kill alot more people. Only a few of the levels so far you arnt allowed to kill anyone and on those levels nearing the end the no kill gets revoked so you can just go for it. They seem to have incoporated quite a few more action bits in it (Like the end of the first one)

    Definately well worth getting.

The train level just plain rocks. Not for themission itself but for the sequences where you climb under the train and along the side of it with other trains going by.

Yeah, Its a damned good level that one, its the demo level. Overall its a really short level compared to some of the others but like you say, crawling under the train and especially along the side of the train is amazing.

Knock out the lights in the carriage, out onto the side then making youre way past the windows, when you get passed by a light by the side of the track so shadows and shapes arn't seen by the passengers make youre move. One mess up and they are onto you big time.

Another good bit is the courtyard where the sniper has night vision goggles on and you have to stay in the spotlight so he can't see you. It has loads of nice touches like that.

Great game, hard getting used to the difficulty initially though. The enemy seem to have radars for ears but if you persevere then you can get right into it.

I loved the first one. Most games that claim to be about stealth can still be completed guns blazing and all that, but splinter cell was different, you had to sneak around.

Once I sort my new PC out, Ill definately be buying this

This is taking almost as long as farcry, but for the simple fact im trying to avoid setting ANY alarms off. Ive never got a level 2 alarm yet, but some lvl 1 alarms are impossible. The damn village level took over an hour of following him around.

Anyone getting serious performance problems? Im playing on a 1.7M and 9600pro in 1024x768, application settings for AA and AF and it plays like a dog. Some scenes are almost like playing in bullet time, especially when there is complex lighting through door slits and fans etc.

Loved the iseral level, twas great dodging all the police and the story is a bit more sensible this time compared to the first one, although i do miss doing another NSA infultration mission.

On a final note - ive missed Sam Fishers' (no he's NOT george cloony Ben f00') dark sence of humour For voice acting and script, this and max payne are defo top picks.

I dont like sig pics so i turn off sigs Which doesnt help when i dont know what ive written here! DOH!

    totally on a tangent,

I've played the demo and though it was good (should be getting my mail order copy soon) but BUT! why did they change the night vision colour from green to grey. I dont think it looks as authentic (mind you, ive never put on night vision goggles...)

Cant wait for it to drop through the door!!

Anyhow im getting seriously pissed off one one of the later levels i cant get near him to get him concious. If i gas him then i fail, if i start shooting or taking out the 3 other guys in there then i fail, if i step into the light i fail, its BS! FFS if i try and follow him i fail too.

    (recording studio bit)

    WTF?!

edit: worked it out now, and completed it. Not as good as the first imo, but still worth the play.

    Sorry, my bad

I think youre right, it was grey in the first game (Yeah, i must have been working too hard this week...).

Btw, have they managed to add any AA support yet (for those who have it)? If i remember correctly (this time!) when you tried to use AA before, some textures and lighting went all strange.

I have my AA and AF set to 4x samples and run in 1024x768 and highest detail and it looks fantastic, but when in night vision mode you get some really nasty looking jagged edges.

Pretty weird that I get that anomoly only in night vision.

The green night vision is used in Ghost Recon, only other game I play that has it

    Ferral,

I noticed that too. Was running in 1280x1024 and it was fine, but then in night vision mode, wtf!!! I hope theres a way round it. I presume you're gonna use NV mode a lot, so I dont want to be running around in what looks like 800x600!! If anyone knows a fix/why, then please let us all know!!

Downloading the demo now. Hope it's as good as the first, will buy it for sure if it is!

If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

afaik AA is not supported in both Splinter cell and Pandora tommorow
since if it's enabled it clashes with the light system. Thus they put in an anti-FSAA code into the game.

Well, I wasn't as impressed as I was with the first one... Ran quite slow and seemed unresponsive...

Anyone else find this? Is the demo exactly the same as the real game?

I would give my opinion but I ended up cancelling the download as I realised I didn't really like the first one Lol
