Far Cry is HOW hard ?

blimey......2 1/2 hours later......still stuck on first islands.....how the HELL to control this cars with a rocket launcher on top bemuses me

Tried being all stealthy but its a JUNGLE out there

Awesome graphics and superb sounds...but once they see ya (even lying in the long grass not moving) the rockets coming off that frikkin boat out in the harbour are way too good for me...

and I've got it set on middle skill

Bugger....I'm way outta practive

You're damn right it's hard. DAMN IMPOSSIBLE

I'm on the.. Er... Cooler level I think. It's stupidly hard with all these hundreds of rocket-wielding monsters lunging at you... You need about 10 shotgun shells and about 4 clips of machine gun fire to kill them!! Argh.


Some of the earlier levels have been quite a rush actually... Stealthing around buildings and the odd Trigen will come at you, which is scary but fun. And watching rockets come hurtling towards you whilst you dodge them and try to enter a building. Great game. Lol

LOL - Im going to have to agree with you on this, missus bought it for me for our wedding anniversary (1 year tomorrow... woot!) and, well.... its AWESOME, though a tad difficult

Anyway, this is the first level, yes?

When you get to the open beach, you can't hang around killing everything, as there are too many buggies and the gun-boat will waste you everytime. Nick the buggy from the base, drive onto the beach, and stop only to kill the buggy behind you, who will follow you shooting you up if you don't.

After that, just 'razz', to use the technical term, from there, past the blokes, other buggies and gunboat, towords the next objective.

Jump out of the buggy when you reach the cliff overlooking the beached Carrier, and from there, wait for a gunboat to appear, patrolling the area. Kill the two blokes in it, jump, swim to the gunboat, and use it to get to the hole in the front of the Carrier, and Robert's your Father's brother.

Howard - The big fat Trigens (another technical term) can take a ton of hits to the body, and also walk through a ton of explosives, but fall quickly to shots to the head. It takes a few sniper rounds to the skull, or a few well placed machine gun shots, and they fall easy.

When you get to the Dam level, you can try this out. Fall at the begining, into the lake, and attract a few Trigens to you, and they'll stand at the edge of the water. Now see how little it takes to kill one, with single shots to the head.

I do for the Trigens with Rockets, as you can just side-step every now and again, and never get hit. When some bloke runs around the corner though, and you've got a split second to kill him or lose half you energy bar, I just spray bullets everywhere.

In the open landscape levels I snipe the mercs with the machine guns before going in, and I noticed it's far more efficient to shoot for the head. Lol

now trying to get out of the top of the boat on the island.....frikkin helicopter gunship and loads of blokes.....and theres gas cans everywhere so the heli shoots one those and its bye bye...

28 attempts so far on this but.

Nailed the beach bit.....drove past, shot both buggies then got out...shot the soldiers....then thought....I gotta do this right...so got back in buggy and reversed up beach and took aim at boat.....while looking out of SIDE of buggy and driven forward and backward to avoid rockets....got it

Awesome size island...and loads of stealth swimming too

but this helicopter...doing my head in

For the heli, get to the part where it appears (when you first reach the top of the boat), get it to notice you and fire a few rounds, then drop back down the ladder, and back-track, to a lower level of the boat.

Get outside, and you can fight the chopper alone, with no blokes to worry about. Aim for the gunner, when he dies, the chopper will fly away. Then return to the top, and its a lot easier to get it done.

Argh, the chopper and chaps on top of the boat - that's the first bit that had me shouting at my computer at the unfairness of it all!

Trying to stealthily climb the ladder with the minigun-toting guy spotting you was so much of a pain in the ass - for some reason I found that on reaching the top and crouching, my guy would just turn 90 degrees to his left but remain on the ladder.

Once you've reached the base of that last ladder you can go back down again to the middle section and draw the chopper by itself, you don't need to get it's attention first.

Keep your firing to short bursts, if you squeeze the trigger for second at a time it's just a great way to run out of ammo or force a reload when you're surrounded by rather annoyed weapon-wielding mercs


Another tip - in areas where there are loads of guys in close proximity, they are dumb enough to shoot at any rocks you throw, so with a bit of strategy the silly sods can be made to shoot each other

go back to an earlier, lower part of the carrier... shoot the chains out to drop the boat into the water and avid having to do any of the top deck stuff at all..

I meade it in a fast run, to the boat...lobbed myself off to land in t...missed......in the water.....restart.

Stoopid.....its the FIRST LEVEL ffs! Why make it so damn hard......its close to going on sale right now

Its not THAT hard, the last level is atleast 2 times harder than any other level in the game. The chopper bit was easy for me, he flew and got stuck in the boat

Damn you realised you coulddo this too after spending like 300 goes to do it the normal way like I jumped off the boat and missed the dingy, shot it down and voila, I tell ya that taketh the pissuth lol

I tried this after completing the game you can't do it as soon as you fly over the edge in the buggy, if you go straight around the back the boat isnt their.
