I'm afraid I didn't have any of the apparently common issues with Far Cry that plagued so many people, so all I can suggest is visiting the official Tech Support forum:
    http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/6/ubb.x?a=...02&f=170106891

In particular, it might be worth keeping an eye on this thread:

is this the one you got nicely for £12? lol
this game needs over 512mb of ram,i had the same sort of trouble with 256mb of pc3500 ram,the first time you run the level,it takes ages, the first few times it took so long i did hard restarts, but one time when i tried loading someone knocked at the door and when i came back about 10 mins later the game had loaded ?

I found running medium settings meant less memory was used - and I have 512MB, so I feel sorry for anybody with less.

I was only on the demo btw.

Well allegedly one of the big RAM chip manufacturers had to scrap thousands of bad silicon wavers.

Might just be a ploy to make more money though.

probably, ive found out i need more ram

i tried my old 512 dead ddr dimm and it worked, but cpu would only run at 600mh\z (hmm) anyway, played better than it at 2445mhz and 256 ram !

ram is what i need, thanks
