    Question Doom Special Edition...wtf?

Just recieved the following e-mail from Gameplay concerning the release of Doom3

Message from Gameplay Customer Services <customer.service@gameplay.co.uk> forwarded on 25.05.2004, 15:46:03:
    >
    > Dear Ian White,
    >
    > Thank you for your recent order with Gameplay for Doom III on PC. We have recently been informed that two versions of Doom III will be released. A standard version and a limited edition deluxe version. Both versions will be available on DVD Rom only. The exact contents of the deluxe version have not yet been announced but we are told it will be something very special!
    >
    > We currently expect the Deluxe version to available from the end of August and the standard version to be available 8 weeks after that.
    >
    > If you would like to upgrade your order to the Deluxe edition at the price of £34.99 please e-mail us at customer.service@gameplay.co.uk or call Gameplay on 0845 345 4440. Please note stock is limited so do contact Gameplay as soon as possible.

Ill do some digging at work (GAME) tomrrow.

    I think however
    > We currently expect the Deluxe version to available from the end of August and the standard version to be available 8 weeks after that.
    Is a tad unfair imo.

A tad unfair is an understatement. I can't see them doing that really, it will just encourage more pirating of the game. Although if it is true, I'll be order the special

Hope you find some good news out agent

i can see it being 1 or 2 weeks so they can make more £££ but 8 weeks is ridiculous imo. what a con.

They might as well have said:

    'Dear Mr White,

If you don't give us a bit more cash and buy the 'Ultimate Super Ninja' Version of Doom III, then you've got to wait 8 weeks to get the normal version.

Hahahahaha. I bet you can't wait and pay up! And you don't even know what the deluxe version is yet!

    Yours,

    GamePlay.'

Still, GamePlay is a top place. Very dodgy that the deluxe version is out that long before the normal, so anyone wanting to play it has to order the expensive version, or wait.

Well I, (& everyone else for that matter) have waited this long to play it, so I can wait a bit longer. Cynical marketing ploy.
