When aiming in a game my mouse has gaps while aiming. Any help?

In call of duty while aiming in ironsight , if i am a distance away from my target i get gaps. Say if i was aiming at someones head from a distance, i can't hit the head cos of the gaps. I can hit to the right and left of the head but not actually target right on it. Then i have to move ever so slightly left or right.

I have a logitech MX510. It was the same problem with my old mouse aswell. Can you help?

The DPI on the intellimouse is 800DPi. The Logitech MX-510 is 800DPi, but some people say that it seems more accurate and sensitive during games. I wouldn't of thought that there would be much difference, but the Intellimouse V3 Explorer suits me
