I've got a similiar question to Howard, does anyone know if the DVD version will come with Halflife source, Counterstrike source, and the ability to download Team fortress and Day of Defeat source later on without having to pay anymore?

And the price of games seems to have gone up i.e. Doom 3 £34.99 (24.99 on internet) and HL2 £34.99 (26.99 on internet from play.com)

"Mmm... I want you for my wife!"
    "Autom...Sprow...Canna...Tik banna...Sandwol...But no sera smee?"
"Of course you can. We would love for you to join us."

Does anyone know the answer to this? I want to buy the gold package but does will they supply game DVDs (with the rest of the bundle being despatched a few weeks after release) as well as making the game available for download on release date.

there's no physical game if you buy via steam, as far as i can tell. the gold bundle simply gives you an all-access pass on the steam account of you choice, and ships you a bunch o' junk in the mail.

ATI HL2 vouchers count for $50 of hl2 purchases - e.g. a $50 discount on the gold & silver packages, or the bronze package.

No way I'm paying for a game with no release date yet

Done the Steam preload, but my money is better off with me until I have an idea of when it will be available

I find it very annoying they don't offer even a token discount, even $5, for buying games online.

At least backing up the Steam-downloaded files to a DVD looks viable - I tested by copying my Steam folder to my second PC and checking it ran (without actually installing anything) and is aware HL2 is 100% preloaded.
