    HL2 Still maybe?

    Got this from a site:

    No Gold Yet...But Good News!
So, this is the long-awaited September 15th, and still no news on Gold status. There is a rumor floating around that Vivendi will be making a statement later about Half-Life 2's release, but no promises here.

Here is the good news, and I can say with a good degree of certainty that this means that we will have Half-Life 2 on September 30th:

The Inquirer just posted news that comes from ATI. The oft-mentioned-rarely-understood Alcatraz Press Event will be taking place on September 30th, as well as a simultaneous event in Munich, Germany. To quote the Inquirer,

We're not certain that these are the final numbers, but you probably already know that the 30th is also the day when Valve will introduce its highly anticipated Half Life 2 with its now famous benchmarks.

As we said previously, all Radeon 9800XT cards will be shipped with this title and this is likely to cost ATI some serious money -- some are suggesting as much as $8 million, although we still wait to get solid proof about the Nvidia-ATI auction.

Let's run down the list of reasons why HL2 will be here on the 30th.
-ATI's 9800XT will be released at Alcatraz on the 30th, bundled with HL2
-The HL2 benchmark will be released on the 30th
-The only date every cited by Valve was the 30th

Supposedly this promotional 9800XT is DEFINITLY happening on the 30th which means it will have a copy of the game on display, so could the 30th still be a realistic possibility.

I bloody well hope so, I bought my ATI 9800Pro in good faith that it was coming out on the 30th so they better release it then or I won't be a very happy bunny.

Sept the 30th is a strange release date. It's a Tuesday. Virtually all games are realeased on a Friday, sometimes a Thursday. Makes me a bit suspect.

ever heard of a coupon? it's standard practice for bundling titles not yet ready. UT had the same thing sone for some cards, which came with Unreal 1 & a coupon for UT...

Is HL2 still on course for a 30/9 release date?

Oh god I can't stand all this waiting!!!!

The new PC Zone (due 16/10) should (according to current issue) have a review of HL2 and Halo and a playable demo of Halo.

I've read in a few places that HL2 will be available on Steam to download first, then lter on it will be at retailers. Thisis just a rumor but it does sound like the most likely reason for the 30th release date (btw i really hate the idea of Steam and how youhave yo pay to get patches and updates, kinda like a cut down everquest service).

    ps. 50!

Didn't mean this, i meant the option that is available to download updates for valve products. I think you pay $9,99 a month and you get access to all the latest HL downloads and stuff.
