Rome - T.W. Resolution Problems, Not Listed!

    Hey,

I have just got Rome - Total War, after a recommendation from a mate. So I installed it and then went to play it. I thought I'd better set up the graphics options, as my monitor was giving me messages telling me to change the resolution to 1280x1024..

So I went to do this, and scrolled down the list, but this resolution is not listed?!.. I couldn't believe it. Maybe I have missed something obvious here, but I want to play it at that resolution, because I have a TFT and thats its native resolution.

But anyways I searched Google, but with no luck!..I also tried these forums, but couldn't find anything.

So far I have tried editing the 'preferences' text file, but with no luck. Somehow I must be able to choose 1280x1024, as other people play it at that resolution..

So any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    Lewis

It dosnt give me that option either, i use 1280x960 , i dont think it supports 1280x1024 wich is the normal res i use, but you wont notice the difference between 1280 x 960 and 1280 x 1024 really.

I have tried it several times, but to no avail. It wont work!.. I must be doing something wrong but I can't see what?!..

    From my System, I got: 2, 2, 4, 2

    This is correct right?

    As I have:

    *Vertex Shader 2.0 2
    *Athlon 2600+ (runs at 1.9ghz) 2
    *1gb RAM 4
    *Radeon 9800 AIW 128mb 2

Can you see what I'm doing wrong?.. Also within that text document I have to edit, there is a total of four columns containing screen resolutions. I am guessing it is the first two columns I have to edit.. (I have tried both, and all the ways I could think of..)

Thanks for help so far.. Any other ideas?

I'm guessing your reply is the same as above?.. My email address is in my signature (click it..) .. But thanks for any help.

I still am yet to solve the problem, and don't know how to get it working.. The thing above doesn't seem to work for me! Unless I am choosing the wrong numbers for my system..

    ..Thanks

Ok right my original answer was that I had exactly the same problem & solved it

    See this thread here

    http://www.short-media.com/forum/sho...rome+total+war

Now I used to have a copy of the config file which I was going to email you but I appear to have lost it.

Also in that thread is link to the solution which was well explained, however it was hosted by ezboards & appears to have been lost after they got hacked

I will install my RtW again & see if I can fix it & report back in a day or two, in the mean time go here

    http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=45315

for an explanation on how to fix it which again links back to the ezboard post but does explain it.
