Just To Throw A Cat Amongst the Pigeons...
I give you IGNs Top 10 reasons to not get an Xbox 360 and wait for the PS3.
![]() Some good ones as well. I've already ordered and I wont be changing that, but for anyone still wondering if its worth it, or for those not chuffed with having to wait till the middle of January before you can actually buy one, read this. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/668/668446p1.html Tell me what you think. |

You could argue this is the same thing as don't upgrade to a S939 amd64, as the new socket m2 is coming out. Best to go and enjoy playing this now enjoy it and see what PS3 has to offer when it _eventually_ appears in the UK.
Is this the same as David/PD_Hexus's thread on reviewing BETA products?. Do you trust rendered artwork that doesn't have a released product to see and feel how good it is?. Time will tell. TiG

I'm waiting for both of them to be out anyway tbh. I've had PS1 and PS2 and XBox and was previously a big Sega Fan (LOVED my Mega Drive!
)I will wait and see which one has: °The best games °The best way to get me a HTPC °The best Multiplayer gaming/online gaming °The better expandibility/compatibility °The best looking games °The least issues Then I'll get whichever one comes out top
Check my project <<| Black3D |>>

'Top 10 reasons' my arse! They're all rubbish! eg. their number 1 'reason' for waiting for a PS3 is Blu-Ray support......and? Blu Ray media mighjt be able to hold 50 times the content, but that don't mean that games will be 50 times bigger or better!

lol @ Title, I can visually imagine throwing a cat by the tail up into the sky with the pigeons :/
Argh after reading that, the PS3 is tempting, yes... but if it takes a whole year (or more) to come out then I will get the Xbox and probably this. I have a massive feeling that PS3 will not make the Spring release date, and even worse, Europe will be put on lowest release priority. (Xbox FTW with *almost* synchronised release?)

Actually, no! The Xbox360 has no opinion to change and that was the point of this article. So, the pigeons are not the 360, but us lot, the people thinking of buying them, and the PS3 is the cat thrown amongst them, whilst the bread in this case has no purpose, and can probably be ignored. This is no different to the first scenario really, as nothing was representing it in the first place. Which begs the question, can you ignore something that isn't there? Either way, thats what everything represents. No! The bread is what the pigeons (representing potential Xbox360 buyers) were feeding on, with feeding, in this case, representing interest, so, as a pigeon is interested in bread, potential Xbox360 buyers are interested in the Xbox 360, making the bread the Xbox360 launch lineup. So, the cat, representing the PS3, is then thrown amongst the pigeons, representing us lot, to distract us from the bread, representing the launch line up, and getting us to focus on the PS3, represented by the previously thrown cat. So, the real question is; who threw the cat, and why? Now, did I throw the cat, as I started the thread, or did Sony throw the cat, as they are making the PS3? Or, did Sony throw the cat to me, I caught it, and threw it amongst the pigeons, representing potential Xbox 360 owners, who didn't see it, as they were feeding (representing interest) on the bread at the time, the bread of course being the launch line up. Now, here is where it gets really complicated. I am interested myself in an Xbox 360, so I am a pigeon. So, if Sony threw the cat to me, how could I have caught it and thrown it amongst the other pigeons, if I myself am a pigeon, and therefore a) scared of cats, and b) have no hands? But then, its not really a cat, its a PS3, represented by a cat, so, really, what we need to find out is, could a pigeon catch a PS3, and then throw said PS3 amongst some other pigeons, who aren't really pigeons, distracted by bread which is really the Xbox360 launch line up? Of course, I am not a pigeon at all, so I could catch the cat which is a PS3 quite easily, and then throw it amongst you pigeons with ease, but if you are not really pigeons, and the cat is really a PS3, then all I'd be doing is throwing a PS3 amongst you, where it would almost certainly be damaged. This would do nothing to persuade you to buy a PS3 instead of an Xbox, and therefore Sonys cat \ PS3 throwing plan would not work. But wait! The bread! The bread would cushion the thrown PS3, saving it from any potential damage it may sustain in the fall, and the PS3 would be fully working, for the pigeons to have a good play on, so the plan would work. But would the pigeons risk going close enough to a PS3 that is represented by a cat to have a play on it? Wouldn't they just stay by the bread? Maybe this is why Sony wany me to throw it, as if the pigeons see one of their own catching and then throwing the PS3, then they might think it is a pigeon friendly cat, that can be trusted, and really, that is what Sony is saying in that article - forget your bread, pigeons, come and play with our cat, its more fun, or, in other words - don't buy an Xbox, buy a Playstation. Simple.

I think Sony are taking a massive gamble leaving the release of the Playstation so late.
Halo 3, and reduced Xbox360 console price arond the time of the Playstation 3 launch, will test Sony to the limit. My money's on Microsoft. |

It will indeed. Halo 3 will be used as a spoiler for the PS3 release, or as close as they can get to it, giving it some real competition.
Anyway, fair is fair, so here is IGNs top 10 reasons to buy a 360 now, now, now! ![]() http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/668/668897p1.html |

Anyone heard how ps3 will look on a standard TV screen?, as 1080p doesn't have any screens that support them anywhere, and we could be looking at £2-3K for a screen that supports 1080p for the ps3. (afaik there isn't any 1080p screens out at all anywhere atm)
