| Initial Impressions Of 360! Wow! Doesn't it look sexy! I nervously entered Game Station this morning, anxious about picking up the new 360. Would it be there? What if the shipment hadn't arrived? What if there had been a mistake and I hadn't pre-ordered back in August? Strange thoughts indeed, but thoughts that surface whenever I pick up a console on launch. Thankfully, the 360 was there, ready and waiting. I picked up copies of PDZ and Condemned, surveyed the shop for would-be 360 snatchers and briskly headed for my car. It felt a bit like being 12 years old again, like when you receive that BMX you've always wanted for Xmas. On arriving home I hastily unwrapped the 360, tearing the packaging in my eagerness. It look sexy. I stared at it for around 2 minutes before unwrapping the peripherals that filled the box. After attaching all the relevant leads, the moment had arrived. To switch on the console that, for the last two years, I had eagerly been anticpating was a fine moment. Panic struck when the 360 appeared not to turn on, but after a couple of seconds( that seemed like hours) it booted. The migration from Xbox live to Xbox 360 live could not have been easier. Just type in your gamertag, enter your Microsoft Net Passport and, bingo! After perusing through the vast menu system, I was thrilled at the amount of option available. I just can't wait to get my teeth into it this evening. This is an exciting time and I feel the Xbox 360 is going to re-awaken console gamers. It's almost like being born again, xbox is our God and our God has delivered, I knew he would! | Woo! I was in a que for over 8 hours yesterday but got an xbox core for £80! (I was first in que so could get a premium and a guy gave me £130 to let him buy it instead - some people will do anything for the silver cd tray) with that I bought a memory stick, a wireless controler with the plug n charge thing along with perfect dark, pgr and call of duty 2. Overall I'm really impressed but no console is ever gonna live up to all the hype, especially when you've spent all day queing. Perfect dark is v cool, especially multiplayer, I think I'm gonna have to get into the game before I fully appretiate it. PGR looks amazing but I cringe every time I hit one of the lovely cars against the wall. My favourite game surprisingly is call of duty 2 though, it works really well, loads of fun and a lot better than the PC version. My flatmate also bought condemned with his premium bundle which I haven't got round to playing yet. I don't think the box looks amazing as its a bit beige, but I suppose they've done that on purpose so you get a faceplate. Now all I need is a HD cable and I'm set Last edited by Slick; 02-12-2005 at 01:40 PM.. |

| So I'm guessing that condemned uses the same gfx engine as F.E.A.R being monolith have their hand in it. In fact its almost like a resident evil version of F.E.A.R sorta. Its a FPS but not as you know it. It even does the black and white flashes in F.E.A.R with weird children noises. If you look and compare to your pc the Plasterboard Stud walls are exactly the same as F.E.A.R. same textures. Its looks F.A.B If you have a 360 ladies and gents go and buy this game. |

| Over-rated piece of rushed M$ junk TBH. Went into Poole last night and played couple in some shops... verdict... WTF we have waited this long for this kind of over rated piece of rip off M$ junk. Where is the anti analysing in Project Gotham Racing 3? The car is scruffy as hell and the handling hmmm GT4 for me thanks.... the textures on the buildings looked ok... then when i actually stopped and looked they are just smoothed out pixelated blurred textures on the building windows etc. the only part that look resonably good was the tunnel/blue bridge with all the construction rails. But again very scruffy graphics. Not worth the wait IMHO. and I am not saying this because I want a PS3/revolution... because if they are 2 this standard then screw that idea... personally I’d prefer some dual x1800's running games at 1600x1200 . also what is with the controller... the material that its made of is horrid to hold... at first I thought this was due to some kind of coating where it was fixed to a machine stand with a little 21" screen... but apparently not because I look behind me and there’s the same controller in a sat in a retail box I have to overall say... it looks good at a glance when someone else is playing it and then when you stand in front of it and you’re playing it it’s like pfft waste of money! To be honest it doesn’t deserve to be called "cutting edge" or "next generation" because the PC flaws it with the cards available. where as when the ps1-ps2 or ps1-xbox/gamecube leap went you were like wow that looks better than a pc... but with the 360 this doesn't reign true TBH... the only thing I can think is that the games were rushed and that they can improve but either way it aint going to improve that much Of course this will appeal to the Xbox and M$ fanboys out there that will try and shoot me down. but at the end of the day if your used to current pc gfx on high end systems then hmm not but to brag about considering come spring/summer when the new cards/new amd socket etc come out and prices go down the appeal factor will go down even more for me and maybe others. But then maybe you all are Xbox fanboys. And don’t get me wrong I love the original Xbox and its modding and Linux potential but this time.... sorry M$ no thanks. And I reinforce my point that this isn't because I am a Nintendo and Sony fan because like I say if it looks like the 360 does pfft screw it... I thank you for your time and don't flame me as I doubt you can change my view and by the way I probably wont reply to your flames as I have added my 2 cents. | I quietly ignore consoles as childrens toys, so I'm not exactly a fanboy, and I hope you can take some constructive criticism: You would have more credibility here if your name had letters. |

I'm sorry but I've played hours of the 360 and there are so many things there I have to disagree with |
