I've tried motion controllers before in arcade games etc. The problem is in examples like that clip with the sword fight on the wii is that you obviously dont feel the resistance of the other sword you're fighting against. So it feels less real and you need to kind of guess where about the other sword is and you end up aimlessly swishing your controller round in front of you so it becomes much less exciting than it looks. This will apply to most games on the wii, such as the tennis game, it doesn't 'feel' like you're playing tennis if you have to guess where the ball is and can only tell if you hit it by looking at the small cartoon character on the screen.

but that's a peripheral, and it underlines the massive difference between designing a game for a given interface, and having that interface available. by making motion sensing technology available to every single game on the platform, the games will be tailored to make proper use of it - rather than it simply emulating a normal pad

Ah, I know what you mean. That Namco sword game was pretty rubbish imo. I had one go and thought I looked a right nutter. It was removed from my local arcade a few weeks. Hmmmmm....but maybe I won't mind looking like an idiot in the confines of my own room.

That's a great point!! If the game was deisnged for the Wii-mote in mind, then I guess the actual experience would be improved......................
