    Serious Sam

yesterday i found in a albatron geforce4 box two games one called motocross mania and the other called serious sam i started playing serious sam and after a few minutes i thought it was an amazing game kinda tacky but still really good it also had quite good graphics considering it is suppose to have a voodoo 2! ive never even heard of this game and it is great why isnt it more famous and are there any other serious sams like a second one or anything?

It is fairly famous. As they use it in benchmarks sometimes. Well for older cards anyway.

I think there is some function where you get a insane amount of monsters....

there is a sequel - series sam: the second encounter... much like the first, just with updated graphics...

what is good fun is playing it on a lan with a few people with the difficulty on maximum, and with all the graphics details right at the top and working through the single player game, dying every 30seconds or so top quality game, i'll have to give you a game sometime

the serious engine is very graphically pretty, and can provide a very good opengl workout for subsystems. part of the problem lies in it being a pig to map properly with - maps can have infinite size but you have to do some vile trickery to get it to do so at a sensible framerate.

it was released a few years ago to a mixed reception, loved by those who thought doom was fun for the insane hordes of enemies, hated by those who think a game is awful unless it has one-hit-kills and couterterrorism.

I loved it (for half an hour at a time) because it reminded me so much of Doom and Duke 3D. It did get a bit tedious though with the thousands of enemies all the same coming at you.

    Good game though

Superb game and the second is equally as good.
You do tend to spend most of your time running backwards though!
Excellent humour in the game - got a load of them extracted as MP3's.

It really is a cool game in multiplayer co-op.

I wish more games contained co-op mode really. :/

It was famous. I remember the original played flawlessly on my Athlon 500mhz with Voodoo 3, which was nice. Recently bought, and still playing through the Second Encounter on my PC now. Fun game to play.

    Though the...

    aaaaaAAAAAAAAA AAAA AAAAAAAAAAA*BOOM*

    Comment was funny.
Nice to play an easy to control, good looking, smooth running FPS every so often.

    NS
