    painkiller problems

I got painkiller gold edition from goozex (which is an awesome site if you haven't tried it yet) and I am having some major issues with it. It plays way way too fast. It feels like double speed. UT 2004 x 5 speed... The reload animations are so quick that I can't even see them. I tried setting its affinity to one cpu, with no result, applied the latest patch 1.61. I downclocked my video card also with no result either. The guys over at extremetech's forums are stumped, and so am I. Hopefully you all will be better.

You could try slowing things down with CPU Killer :

Painkiller is a fast game in the first place, doesn't need things speeding up anymore!

Have you tried clocking the CPU down to around 1.5 Ghz, thats the minimum CPU speed required by the game. Also read somewhere about the cool and quiet function a lot of the CPU's are getting lately. You could try disabling that also, worth giving a shot to see if it works.

Final one I have found is alt tabbing out the game and getting up the resource screen (ctrl, alt & del) Task Manager. Find the game in the process list and right click and set the affinity to one CPU.

yeap, seems like the dual core problem again..

set affinity to 1 CPU and the game should work fine.. the next thing to worry about really is the clockspeed..

I played Painkiller with 1 CPU affinity, and it still feels VERY fast compared to when I had it on a barton 2500+..

Dual Intel Xeon Quad Core 2.66Ghz, 16GB FB-DIMM, FireGL goodness...
