Happy European Birthday Xbox 360!
A year ago today I had this little bundle of joy sitting at home waiting for me to get back from work:
I can still remember the excitement! The joy of opening it and seeing it for the first time, my brother phoning all his friends exclaiming “we’ve got one, we’ve got one”. I had it up and running in no time on my Plasma screen and fired up Project Gotham Racing 3. I was impressed at that very moment and have been impressed ever since. My 360 still sits proudly at the top of my AV equipment and it is undoubtedly the entertainment centre in my house (see the pictures here). Experiencing the Xbox 360 for the past year and watching it evolve has been a joyful experience which I expect will continue for many years to come. The dashboard updates have particularly been one of the key features I’ve enjoyed, it’s great to see new functionality added and even more so when it addresses what the consumers have been asking for. Do you remember back in the day when we weren’t able to do anything else with our Xbox 360’s whilst we were downloading from Marketplace? How did we ever cope!? Having always been an avid PC gamer the Xbox 360 is a breath of fresh air, it is the only console I’ve thoroughly enjoyed since the Super Nintendo. Even the original Xbox and Playstation 2 didn’t interest me. With truly fantastic features such as Live Marketplace, Live Arcade and Media Connectivity, the Xbox 360 has managed to make my PC gaming all but a redundant past time. With Viva Pinata, Forza 2, Halo 3 and more to look forward to, I’m as happy with my Xbox 360 now as I was 365 days ago. Happy 1st Birthday, Xbox 360! |

Lol i remember the effort I went too to get hold of one exactly a year ago when I hadnt pre-ordered one...
Got up nice and early, went into Town (Sutton) - Completely sold out everywhere Went into London - Couldnt find anywhere with them in stock Was heading up to see my friends in Aberystwyth that day so when I changed at Birmingham I checked the Gamestation and Game above the station - Sold out Chanaged at Shrewsbury (home town) I decided to check the places in town there - Sold out Got to Aber - Sold out Decided to try one last thing while it poped into my head... I called Toys'r'us in Shrewsbury to see if they had one (it used to be my backup place for stuff like this) and they siad they had a core system that someone had cancled their pre-order on, I said keep it for me and then rang my dad to go pick it up

I was totally suprised to get mine on launch day. Everyone at work was talking about how they'd tried to get one in the morning but hadn't been able to do so. I phoned home on my lunch break and my mom said I had a parcel waiting for me, couldn't believe it!
I had pre-ordered online with Dixons and they'd come up trumps! |

Ahh really a year already?
What they say is right folks, the older you get the faster the days, weeks, months all fly faster. I remember getting my xbox360 and everyone thinking Dead Rising was the dogs danglies. Now - they see DoW and the looks they give while drooling at the TV are funny. So - I'll ask what everyone wants to know, When's the 720 out then?
