Which online shooter would you recommend me? I have only just got broadband in the last couple of weeks. I was one of the first people in the UK to have broadband when it first came out, but moved to a cottage in the sticks and had to live with dial up for about 4 years. Anyhow, i have been playing CS:S for the last week but i am a bit bored of it already. Most games are full of muppets and people seem to want to play the same old De_Dust maps all the time. It seems to me like the counter-terrorists all have the upper hand as everyone plays for themselves and not the team, not even bothering to try and plant the bomb and losing to the timer. I know i would enjoy clan matches, but i am a family man and don't have the time really. Don't get me wrong, i really like CS:S but i find it had to get a good game. I used to play a lot of Tribes 2 when i was a student, clan and server admin for the now dead NetGamesUK. This was the first decent online shooter with vehicles. What would people suggest? What hot right now and is more involving than CS:S? Thanks

I would second BF2. I havent played it at all since i got my 360, but I played it solidly for about a year. Its just a shame that unlike the unreal tournament series there isnt much in the way of user mods/maps which are actually populated. Come to think of it you can pick up UT2004 for £10 new, so that would definitely be worth picking up if you dont already have it. What i always liked about it is that if a custom map comes up that you dont have, it will download it whilst the game is running and then once it is finished you jump into the map and continue playing ONS FTW!!!

Most games suffer from idiots messing up the game for others, so rather find a clan/community server where the muppets get (politely) warned/kicked/banned. (pimping time!) pop over to www.deadmen.co.uk.

I liked it, BF2 has a lot (and i mean a lot) niggles, but overall is still a good game, definitely worth getting it if you can find it under £20. Still think any FPS fan should grab a copy of UT2004 My UT pimping is done for the day

Another DoD-S fan. You can get mupet servers, but ask for some recomendations for well admined servers and they will be great. The number of official maps isnt huge, but there are loads of great custom map servers. Have been playing a really strange one lately where all the maps are made from orange boxes, they look like engineering diagrams. Managed just under 200 kills on one map last night, for only 20 deaths. Maybe sightly due to getting in a great position with an mg Loads of shouting from the enemy to "kill that fkin mg". Luckilly my team helped out by giving me enough ammo to invade France, actually make that twice.

I prefer Battlefield 2142 to BF2. It just seems a lot more balanced and you spend a lot less of your time getting slaughtered by plane/tank whores. More pimpimg; ![]() www.BattlefieldBrothers.com It's a community rather than a clan, so there's no pressure to put x amount of time in or be up to a certain standard. We even have a naked lady section. But of course, you're a family man, so wouldn't be interested in that
