SNES, N64 or Gamecube?
I've seen a gamecube for £25, and a SNES for a similar price.
I'm guessing I could probably get an N64 for the same... But which would you recommend, and which game(s) should I get for the system you recommend? Thanks Josh PS - as examples of games I play - I like Sonic the Hedgehog on the Megadrive, love Gran Turismo on the Playstation, and recently completed NFSMW on the PC.

If you're going to get a wii, then snes+street fighter 2+various mario games = sorted.
If you're not going to get a wii, then tight between the above and Gamecube with the sonic games, monkeyball, soul calliber II, SSX, baldurs gate dark alliance, double dash etc. |

I'm probably not going to get a wii (unless they end up costing around £100, then I might). If that helps

I'm leaning towards the SNES or Gamecube (SNES for retro fun, Gamecube for "current" fun).
But wouldn't know what the must-have games are.

Personally the N64, for that budget. Still one of the best consoles for after pub idiocy. Goldeneye, Mario Kart, perfect Dark, Turok and stuff like Mario 64 if you have no mates

I would personally go for the Snes, I have nes/snes/n64 and cube (aswell as lots of other consoles like dreamcast, xbox, 360 etc) however snes is still one of my most played console.
Mario Kart (snes version best ever), Super Mario World (best mario), Super Metroid, Donkey Kong etc etc! |

I remember having fun with N64 games when the voodoo/3dfx emulator was around and I had the right hardware to run it.
I also like playing Super Mario on the DS - does the SNES version feature Mario becoming as big as the screen or is that only in the DS version? (I don't want to spend as much money as a DS and DS games cost, so the DS isn't an option) But I don't really like console emulation - the keyboard's not the way it's meant to be played - and I've never had much joy with joypads on PCs. I'd rather have the real thing

Just get the games with Mario, Metroid, Zelda and the like on them, they are all good.
Try things like Act Raiser, NBA Jam TE, Zombies Ate my Neighbours, Pilot Wings, Super Bomberman as well. For the cube Ressy Evil series, Pikmin 1&2, Monkey Ball 1&2, Eternal Darkness. |

I think they will be 100 quid in a couple of years - the capability is easily there for nintendo to sell them at this price a bit down the line. My gamecube was only 55 quid new including game and memory card when I bought it.

I'd add the following to to Directhex's list,
GC Eternal Darkness, Ikaruga Super Metroid 1/2 Zelda: Twilight Princess Zelda: 4 swords Zelda: classics collection (1,2, OOT, Majora's Mask and master dungeons) SNES Killer Instinct, Parodius, Super Probotecter (Contra Spirits), Legend of Zelda IV (A Link to the past), Illusion of Time, Castlevania, Mario Allstars (preferably the version with Mario World), N64 Turok 2 Star Fox (Lylat Wars) Perfect Dark Wetrix (not exactly a must have, but I found it fun)
