    dell 2007wfp + xbox 360 vga cable

I recieved an xbox 360 vga cable today and plugged it all in and basically the vga cable won't fit into the back of my monitor. So I had to use the mini gender converter and then plug it into the supplied vga cable (that came with the monitor) and go through that, it worked then.

But what I'm wondering is I can't in the 360 options change the HD settings, is this correct for a monitor? Also what other things should I change to make my picture better and is this a normal thing or is either my cable wrong or my monitor wrong?

    Cheers.

If i remember correctly then its just a case of changing the resolution. Theres no HD option when using vga because virtually any computer monitor will display HD resolutions (720p at least).

i get some wavey lines in the background when playin games thru the vga cable now. It differs depending on if i have it set to gaming, multimedia or desktop mode etc.

I heard theres a way to get rid of them or cover them? Anyone know? is it interference or something else causing this? I heard it could be a bad cable.

I think my monitor is defective now, so I'm gonna setup an RMA. Any advise on dealing with dell?

up til now, everythings been a little vague:
    1) The VGA cable wont fit into the back of the monitor
Are you connecting a gender changer to the back of the monitor, and the vga cable into the gender changer?
    2) Wavey lines
    Self explanitory really...
Is it specific scenes/games which experience this. Define "background"
The more connections you have, the more interference you will have.
Have you tried this on another monitor, to see if it experiences the same problem.
Have you set the Xbox to output the correct resolutions/is there black banding on any sides?

    1) The 360 vga cable was a tight fit but I managed to slide it on by lining it up properly (usually these cables go on so easy but this one didn't.) The gender changer won't fit into the back of the monitor (it has holes in like the back of the monitor whereas the vga cables have pins.) - I have tested both my pcs through the monitor vga as well and the lines are there on both desktops.

    2) Wavy lines
Appear all the time, on whatever background. Just more visible on certain ones. I haven't tested the 360 on another monitor, I will now. (Ok tested, no lines on other monitor.)

No black banding, res is set correctly.

ok, you make a good point about the monitor being borked

one point still bothers me though, what is the output resolution from the xbox 360?

1366 x 766 I think, tho you can try to set it to 1920 x 1080, but it won't work

Occassionally during HD-DVD playback I get some tearing on my Dell 2405 @ 1080i, but changing res down, then back up again gets rid of it

i've tried all 360 resolutions bar the 1920 one cause my monitor doesn't support that high I believe.

Is it true dell replace monitors with refurb ones? Or is that only after 30 days? (Ive had mine less than a week)

Smile Re: dell 2007wfp + xbox 360 vga cable

the 360 really needs a DVI cable to that it can support much higher resolutions with out so much interferance and scale problems that you get from using the VGA cable, also i believe that the wayvy lines on your screen could be caused from interferance from another monitor or display close by.
